On a more serious note, they cant really decide between themselves which translation is more appropriate. If you ask me, they seem more like a group of latin philosophers than latin translators. The pics you've posted are great since nobody really gets your goodwill. Haha.

4:22 AM here. Erm, I was definetly thinking to conserve, not contain. Plus, I dont believe Martin Luther King was into containing. As in: keep hope alive, dont loose faith, persist...etc. If I were to put emphasis on something, that would be on that which is kept. However, the keeper is ALMOST of equal relevance, but not entirely.

at the moment it looks like it's down to a choice between "servo spes victus" or "Spes vivens conservetur".

been having a look around there and it's a funny old place.

in their 'post your picture thread' here there's only been 4 pics (and 2 of them are of the same person) since december 2005. but the common link is that they're all a bit on the skinny side.

it's worth checking out the photo of Sa Seba for a cheap laugh if you're bored ("Me, giving orders to my subjects"), and i'm starting to find Luna Megaera strangely attractive, although she's way too young, so i guess that makes me a perv. the competition's not that strong though. it's basically just her or dojo. Sa Seba tries to make a move on her rudeboy stylee, but fucks it up with a lame chat up line. she then disappears from the forum shortly after that...

the strange thing is that it's got 13 posts, but 1275 views. seems like latin forum members are shy about showing themselves, but a lot of people want to see what they look like.

think it needs a jugo photo on there to breathe a bit of into it...

cepasaccus (see pic above) has just decided to join the 'keep hope alive' debate that's been raging over there. we're not really challenging the 'hot stove latin II' topic for number of pages, but we're overtaking a lot of other threads in terms of views and replies now. it's all very exciting. i feel like we're on the cutting edge of the latin translation scene at the moment.

his take on the choice between nohope4u's "servo spes victus" or lynx and quemquem me facis's “Spes vivens conservetur” is this:



i reckon we can get rid of lynx's variant completely then, because;
1. he wasn't happy with it, and neither were you or nohope4u,
2. cepasaccus didn't even bother mentioning it (a cuss in itself), and
3. as StasZ and monk rightly pointed out, he was being a useless cunt who deserved the shit pic.

so the updated and revised cepasaccus version is now 'serva spem victam'.
