erm... where else should it go, if not here?
what kind of venue is it? what sort of crowd will be there? what slot wll you be playing in? are you the warm up, highlight, or finish? what equipment will you be using? have you got any experience?
i'd say you've got quite a few options really without knowing the answers to the above.
the main one is to play tunes that you are into and wish you could hear played out. don't compromise yourself by playing tunes that everyone says are good but you're not really into. then, even if it all goes wrong, you'll still enjoy hearing your favourite tunes on a decent system! and if it all goes well, people will know what you're about.
- burn some cds from your mp3s and work out a set order BEFORE you go there.
- beg, borrow, or steal some vinyl, and do the same thing.
- borrow a laptop with a decent sound card and dj program, and hook it up to the mixer, and do the same thing.
- make mash up "remixes" using any 2 or 3 records that sound good together on a dj program, record them on to cds, and construct a set from them, so people have got a way to distinguish you from other djs. (well that's what i do anyway. 'marilyn monroe - i wanna be loved by you' together with 'Sunship - Check One-Two' went down a treat last saturday night!)
- take a mix cd, play it, and pretend you're mixing.
- take off all your clothes, set fire to them, and run around the dance floor with a klaxon. the crowd won't respect your musical taste, but you'll get well known in the shortest space of time....
- don't forget that you don't actually need a lot of tunes for an hour and a half - it's quality not quantity. you could do it with 20-25 tunes easily if you do it right. if you're good at mixing you can make extended sections of the tracks that people are getting into on the night.
- enjoy it. if you're feeling nervous, it will be obvvious to everyone!
good luck

maaaaan you rock!!! ive got me own vinyls, and a laptop. i need some tracks that would sound simmilar to punk shock or somethin cuz ive formated me hard drive and.. well i don't have much. the original dirtchamber songs would have helped me but they need a re-upload. ive done some 10 minutes with ableton and i'm in a stall cuz i have no material. it's all down to the beats. i'll repeat myself, i need something like punk shock, evel knievel.. club rockers!
