Post subject: | Audio CD - compilation burning - help |
Hy! I've got a serious question here. Help or recommend a good software for this kind of request please: I used NERO 6 enterprise and it didn't work. Let's see: If I put in (for instance) my fotl cd in the driver, the winamp recognizes it. In the old times it only wrote: track1, track2, etc. Nowadays, it writes out like: prodigy - smack my bitch up, etc. I want something like this. Here's how it succeed for me: I burned an album by miranda. After it was ready, I put it in and it recognized the album, like it wrote out the things normally, not just track1, track2, etc. But what I want is to burn a compilation cd. I wrote it out, filled all the shit in nero like "compilation properties" etc. And after I burned it, winamp only recognized it as "track1, track2" etc. Why? How should I do it to be okay? |

Of course it's an RW. I won't buy 10 discs to try it out So I test it with an RW. |

I think the feature you're looking for is CD-Text, there's an option to enable it somewhere but I can't remember where. If it's disabled, only the audio data will make it onto the disc. No track names or anything will be written, even if you typed it all up. |

Winamp reads the tracknames of your CDs from CDDB or CD-text. CD-text is on the CD itself, where CDDB is info downloaded from the internet. So another way to get your info loaded in winamp is to name the tracks yourself in for example "CDex" and submit it to CDDB. Then winamp can load the tracknames from CDDB next time you load the CD (which is what happens with your tfotl CD). This is done AFTER the CD has been made. Im not sure weither it is moraly correct to submit your own homebrewed compliations to CDDB, but it will work. Btw, weither its a CD-R or CD-RW doesnt matter. |

I mean: File / Compilation Properties / AUDIO CD My "Write CD TEXT on CD" was switched on, but it's still track1, track2 EDIT: there's this "music ID brought to you by Gracenote" stuff in winamp when I insert an audio cd. Actually it says to me: "no matches were found" but it gives out all the stuffs. Artists, track titles, so it "half-works" I say. But actually, if a track is over it searches again and says again that "no matches were found". So it's okay, works halfly with this cd text enabled stuff, but then what to do with this "no matches were found" stuff? |

Thats because gracenote is a CDDB service, hence the CD info should be uploaded to gracenote CDDB before winamp can load the info. |
