Just caught a 3 burglars up on the attic above my apartment. I had just come home after a late night out on town, and suddenly heard a lot of noise on the floor above me. I stood guard outside the attic door (their only escape route), while I was on the phone with the police. The burglars heard every word I was saying to the police, and suddenly I heard them coming towards the door. I hurried down the stairs (3 against 1 is not fair play), and the trio ran out the door and across to the other attic (we have 2 main entrances to the block, which is connected by the attic on the top floor). Wow what an adrenaline rush! I quickly went back inside my apartment and to the window, just in time to see the police car driving up in front of the other entrance (they were quick, about 3 min). Now what do you think the burglars did? They couldn't run, because that would definitely make them look guilty (and the police would most likely catch them), so instead they come running out of the entrance, seeing the headlights of the police car 4 meters in front of them, and they just stop, pretending to be all innocent. They got some stolen goods with them (in bags), and they got their hands in their pockets. The policemen aren't stupid, and obviously knowing what's going on, commands them to drop their bags, and show their hands, but the burglars refuses to cooperate. There is a lot of shouting from the policemen, but eventually they had to manhandle the burglars, while the burglars were still claiming to be clueless of what was going on...
I mean, it's 5am in the morning, there is not a single soul outside except for those 3 and the 2 policemen, they were wearing hooded sweathers:
covering most of their heads, had bags in their hands, looked shady, AND comes running out of the apartment block for which I had just reported a burglary to the police 3 mins ago... Yeah, they were innocent
The burglars were just kids, probably around 18-25, but the attitude they had towards the police made me glad that I didn't try to stop them myself.
That's the second time in 1 month that there is a break-in in our attic. I can't possibly imagine what they were execting to find, there is nothing of value up there...
Well, I'm off to sleep now. Haven't been able to sleep for the past 2 hours because of all the adrenaline in my body
