Quote:
Prodigy album celebrated on Radio 1
THE Prodigy's classic album Music For the Jilted Generation is to be celebrated as part of DJ Zane Lowe's 'masterpieces' series on BBC Radio 1.
The 1994 record is one of four albums to be played in its entirety across a four-week period, with The Stone Roses, Rage Against the Machine and Pink Floyd also featuring.
Airing on Thursday, December 4, Zane's show will include a feature about the Essex band from 8pm, followed by an uninterrupted playing of the 13-track album.
Formed in Braintree in 1990, Liam Howlett, Keith Flint, Maxim, and Leeroy Thornhill rose to fame with albums including Experience, Music For the Jilted Generation, Fat of the Land and Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned.
Leeroy left the band in 2000 to pursue his own successful DJ career, but the remaining trio continue to top many people's lists of favourite groups.
Trailing the show, Zane described the album as the first dance record which "unashamedly rocked" and it is described on the DJ's Radio 1 webpage as "an important protest album against the criticisms of rave culture. This record is one of the most powerful, energetic and thrilling listens of the last 20 years."
Praise continues to come for these musical pioneers, so if you want to learn more about the background to the album, as well as The Prodigy themselves, and get an entire play-through of Music For the Jilted Generation, then tune in Zane Lowe's show on Thursday, December 4, from 8pm.

This is gonna be a nice mixture of their brilliant classics mixed within all of the news about Invaders Must Die. It's a good time to be a Prodigy fan. We have been rewarded for all those years of false starts and silence...
