Dont be petty. Its a rip off and its obvious. The entire track is built around that riff. "Cover" was obviously the wrong word there and for that I most humbly apologize even though I was making an entirely different point.

I agree with ludvig, and thats very sensible
but I don't mind what direction he takes (forward or backward), because up to now I liked most of all he released, so I'm convinced I will like his new stuff he will release
something I love out of his work is his use of breakbeats, and I'm sure we cannot expect him to change that
so I just want him to not be shy to release, be generous with what he produced or will produce (which is also criticized by a few ones)
amen

ludvig wrote: That's not necesserily true, not if he tries to expand his range of fans in the same way he expands his range in music. Just like I read in some other thread, and this is also my opinion, AONO was simply a few years ahead of its time. The electronic scene today (i.e. Justice etc.) sounds a whole lot like Liam did in 2004, I just don't think people were ready for that type of electro trash sound back then. I've shown AONO to a alot of people this year, and basically everyone has loved it.
So if he again choses a new direction, instead of taking the safe road, I bet there is a huge crowd of people who will be happily surprised by the "new" Prodigy. They just need to hear it.
If you take a band like Radiohead for exampel. Ever since their mega hit album OK Computer (and even before then), they have been going in different directions on each album. By doing this, they have basically had 50% of their old fans getting dissapointed with every new release, while gaining the same amount from new listeners with different tastes. And not only do they get to widen their musical views and styles, but guess who shows up at their live shows? That's right, all their different fans, from all eras, do!
Liam has said in interviews that when making new albums, he likes to think of The Prodigy as a brand new band making brand new music. He needs to start thinking that way about his fanbase as well. If he decides to do something new, he needs to find and hook new fans as well, because chances are, 50% of his old fans won't like his new stuff.
I don't know if I'm just thinking crazy, but it all kind of makes sense to me.
The interesting fact here is that this is the first time that he has "failed" because he was "ahead of his time".

AONO was ahead of its time? Bah. I still have trouble listening to a good chunk of this album. Underdeveloped/a step in the wrong direction/uninspired/unfocused - take your pick, but not ahead of its time. In fact, I believe the songs on that album did not become modern until Liam reworked them for live performance. Spitfire 2005 sounds a hell of a lot better than Spitfire.

yeah i'll agree with that one, spitfire 05 was a hell lot better than spitfire, would have been better if it had the ending in the tune itself like the video had cause i can't get good samples of it lol but anyway..
i also belive liams tracks grow on him, he can advance them with just little edits, take action radar link, i'd rather have the 05,06,07 version than the normal one because it just sounds so fresh in my opinion.
and yeah AONO was like a little experiement for liam, he wrote two AONO's i belive and the other one sounded shit in his opinion so he done some pc shit and it still sounded amazing but it could have been better.
all im waiting for now are some fat fucking beats that will make my hairs stand on end and give me goosebumbs just like the first time i herd b&e 05 live and the shadow for the first time when i was pissed at a mates house.
but once this album comes out itl be a bomb, then they will tour live again (Alot) and it will prob sound the same as it did on the album but give it a year or two after that and we'll be in for some fucking amazing time
The Prodigy Aint Dead Yet, Its Gonna Be One Fucking Long Time Before That Happens Unless One Of Them Takes An Overdose

yeah, AONO had a lot of people thinking that Prodigy was headed into the void. But, after hearing all of their other releases and all the great stuff done with the live performance... I can't help but have faith in Brother Howlett.
It is a bit scary to have no idea what the new album sounds like, though... Prodigy changes the rules for every album, so it could be ANYTHING!

Agreed. I haven't found anyone but electro fans who like the album.

It is underrated in my opinion though...
Take Hotride..that tune alone represents the best this album can give you. And there's no tune on jilted that has this uplifting/trashy/rocking vibe. It's just a shame the other tunes did not get the same attention from Liam.
And...going no 1 in 2004 AND 2005 just says to me they're still succesfull.

I feel that, every track on MFTJG beats the shit out of Hot Ride, except One Love, irregardless of what vibe they bring.

I dont like electro much, but i enjoy some tunes from AONO. More the sounds of "medusas path" and "get up get off", than "girls" even though its a good track. But i do think that there is far betwen the best and worst tunes on that album. Many of the tunes were better off with a new beat or beefed up in some other way.
Plus, i think Girls and Phoenix could just aswell have been labeled remixes or cover versions.
I am not impressed by hotride at all (el batori mix is just a big mess for example) and i think MFTJG is far far better. But i have always been for the electronic sounds and not "punk attitude" and rock music.
