Facts vs. opinions maybe...?

Not at all. When was the last time they made anything fresh? Something exciting? Loads of people in this very thread are saying Nasty sounds like Omen or Run With The Wolves or whatever else. It's just rehashing what in effect was a crap idea in the first place ie. Keith doing his tired old "yeah look at me I'm mental" act. It's been a long time since we've been floored by a tune that is as peerless as Smack My Bitch Up or Poison.

Either deaf or an imbecile.

I also happen to find Back 2 Skool pretty boring.

See above.

So stuff like "if you grew up with jilted you will hate this" is just bs. I know plenty of people from that time that like nasty.

I can say the same. I like Nasty but 4 me and many of the people of my age it is just a good song. When i see people go nuts and post things like : ''amazing, killer, epic ect ect'' why i cant post the opposite?

If you refer to me i did not say that just because i grew up with MFTJG i will hate Nasty or anything new. I mean that i know how it feels to listen to a Prodigy Really amazing single for the first time and i'm telling you Nasty is mediocre, even to some IMD songs.

Who knows, maybe there are epic songs on the album and believe me i want it to be a good album, even better than the 90's albums.
I put my money on "Beyond the Deathray" ,"Wall of Death" and "Medicine".I hope WoD is not similar to Stand Up.

I agree with you on 'Nasty', but you have the tedency to project stuff unto others. Don't feel like going over older posts, when you do it again I'll let you know :P

that was inevitable, wasnt it? the prodigy invented their own sound in the 90s (which was new at that time) which heavily influenced the dance scene. that was over 15 years ago. a lot has changed and developed since then. there are so many sub-genres and SHITLOADS of music comin out these days. they HAD their own genre and sound. + their over 40. to be honest, how the hell can you expect them to make something as groundbreaking and fresh as the 90s stuff? or how can you expect them to have that impact on you (figure of speech) concidering the bar is set SO FUCKING HIGH (by themselves) and the music scene is just sooo vast...

not projecting opionions on anybody, just the way i see it

You think like that because you want people and masses to like it. To be liked by the classic dance edm listener.
This track is not their best but its a great track and ofc its not best fom day, imd and omen arent best from imd too, so we are only to wait for the new album which I think is going to be a banger.

I want the masses to like it but i really expected something more. I felt that with AONO Liam got his pieces together, with IMD proved he can write a decent album and with this one he would write something really really groundbreaking that would ''Wipe the scene'' as he said.
I just felt Nasty was not so good. Most of the IMD songs are better. All my $$$ to BTDR,WOD and Medicine!

Jesus. Some of you people have become so desperate for new material from the band that you'll lap up any old shit. Fact is, The Prodigy are no longer originators. Their music doesn't have the wow factor it once had. Unfortunately I was expecting Nasty to be as bad as it is because Liam simply doesn't have the same drive that he once had.

The last truly exciting tune that he made was Back 2 Skool. How old is that now? 10 years or so? Warriors Dance was OK but pretty shonkily produced. They're concentrating too much on how much they want to "rock" their fans, but not focussing on what made them unique, a special hook, sample or vibe. Now it's all just "blah blah blah we're fire, rah rah rah um wire... yeah!"

It's a fucking crying shame to see my favourite band slowly deteriorate into such mediocrity.

he found it in the cardboard, it's originally from 99 or 98 or so

i might be mistaken, but i *think* back 2 skool was originally written and/or played in 98, then again in 02 before returning for the AONO/Their Law tours.

i pretty agree with alot of what you said here, however its very much against the grain on this board (its to be expected of course, i am not slagging anyone off for reacting as such), but there are people who are seemingly very upset that we hold such opinion.

ive said before, everything is all subjective. and opinions are like arseholes...but we must respect each others opinions (most here do, even if they cannot agree with those opinions). but resorting to childish 'go away/get f*cked' sort of responses is redundant.

footnote: i still love the band btw, otherwise almost £50 of my money wouldn't have been spent yesterday if that wasnt the case. i am simply not too excited by their latest offerings...

Why you feel the need you have to let me know? Like when someone tries to make people believe that Nasty is an incredible song i do the opposite because i think it is not so good.
Lets find a room with a ceiling mirror and finish this.

After almost 6 years you feel this is a strong 1st single prodigy song? a killer bla bla bla? I liked it too but i think it is not good enought for a single.

When you ask if it's strong and a killer, do you mean to make it popular amongst the masses? If so, I couldn't care less.

In terms of production quality and catchy-ness, I think it's great. Definitely better than IMD (the single) and anything from AONO (and even if I find AONO weak, I still find it better than 95% of all the non-The Prodigy stuff).

The only thing I can see that could be seen as disappointing is the fact that before IMD, anything new by The Prodigy was expected to be fresh and unheard of before. It's still the case with Nasty, I feel that to an old fan like me, it feels like putting on old comfy slippers.
But even if AONO felt fresh and different, I'm still very glad that Liam went back to the roots and experimented less.

Anyway, I'm old now and I need my comfy slippers.
I feel that the real Prodge attitude goes somewhere along those lines: Whether people agree with me or not, fuck'em. :-D

Here's how you do it:

1. Keep Keith away from the microphone.
2. Stop taking inspiration from whatever band is popular at the time ie. Pendulum.
3. Ditch the guitars. It worked for a while but it's becoming tired now.
4. Get down a charity shop and start buying some old film scores. Listen to them and use your untouchable sampling prowess again.
5. Bring back Leeroy. We all know he was the true brains behind the operation.

I'm having such a hard laugh by reading the comments of those who expected a groundbreaking tune. Absolutely delusional behaviour.

Especially the moaners who start the comparisons with TFOTL&MFTJG or those who suddenly decided to discover things about the band after ALL these years are the most hilarious. Pure comedy. :rofl1:

Well that's the tune and it's great (and definitely better than IMD), bleeds a bit in it's structure/progression but it's still great.

If you don't like it, listen to something else..constant moaning won't transform it in to something that you prefer.

I dont think many non die hard fans will like it. It is not a single that will bring new people to the band. I hope Liam has something 4 them in the next single. I want the record to sell well. Yeah did not love it but i still love the band :o .

Disagree. As long as students exist there will always be new fans. Why else do you think they only release stuff after at least as many years as a degree lasts? :teeth:
