Great post memphis!

I've been thinking about those things a lot. How don't they get bored because they do the same setlist for many years? I would find that impossible if I was an artist. It wouldn't be fun for myself to tap silent keys to same tracks every damn gig. Feels like they've lost their spirit and the excitement of the old days, when "keeping it fresh" really meant it. What are they afraid of? They should even try couple gigs with some really rare shit thrown in, even if some average gig-goers wouldn't recognize them.

I've seen the boys three times and loved each performance, but every time as the set was approximately same, the predictability took a small part out of the experience. I didn't go to Serbia, I didn't lose anything. Still I feel let down...

EDIT: And NEOREV too, exactly my thoughts. You typed them just before I did haha.

Scrillex is so bad its beyond belief, why are these pioneers of dance music even getting these people on their festival, their standards are slipping so much, Keith and Caspa was bad enough, they are becoming so out of touch its unreal, its really sad to see the band you have loved since 1991 just becoming something they said they never would, predictable, sterile, tired, i for one hope they pack it in now, they peaked a long time ago, IMD was a decent return to form but on the grand scale of things it should of ended there... unless Liam has some sort of musical epiphany then im scared of how poor the next stuff will be...

+1. Here would be a good place to stop. Prodigy have always been about re-invention, never standing still. How they can still play the same set list for years is beyond me and surely smacks of going through the motions, treading water. If Dogbite and AWOL are indicative of the new material then they are fucked. I would hate to see them fade away off the back of a mediocre album and a routine live show. They are in a worse state now than they were AONO era.

@Mowgli

about what you said with playing the same tracks...

i produce music and perform live ... of course nowhere near as often The Prodigy do, but usually at least once a month. and i can tell you, even for me with scattered gigs, i get bored of playing the same set of my music and try to switch it up for myself as often as i can. i don't it fun for me to repeat myself and try to freshen it up so i can get into it just as much as the audience. so i can't imagine on The Prodigy's scale, playing hundreds of gigs with the same set would drive me mad. maybe Liam is having trouble writing a new album because of that. being stuck in this stagnant way of thinking and what they think hardcore fans come to expect from a Prodigy show. switch it up Liam, maybe you'll get inspired by the constant state of change. i mean Their Law has pretty much been in the set list since what? 93? 94? that's almost two decades of playing that track live. i can't really imagine them being 100% into the performance with the way things are at the moment. even Maxim's freestyling has disappeared and has a set amount of things to say and when to say it. i love The Prodigy and really don't think this is the end if they simply just changed it up here and there a bit. but at the moment, it just feels like an act... they take their marks and just run through the same set up and actions each time.

Yep, tracklist was really disappointment. I didn't expect much, just one new track, or at least one of the old refreshed tracks played at MK. One minute long Weather Exp fill can't save it, really. Still, I enjoyed the gig. The mosh pit was fuckin' intense, people were dancing all over the place, the Serbs really know how to party :wink: I've also met Nightmare in the front rows right before the gig, so yeah, that was good :)

I have not seen much from the other bands, Caspa was good, expected more from Zane, but it was all about the dupstep, at least on the main stage.

Also can't forget this Japanese fan we've met in the train who travelled from his homeland to Serbia just to see The Prodigy, so kudos to him. I really hope he enjoyed the show nonetheless the setlist.

Same old setlist, as expected.
New tracks worked well, except "Dogbite", i'll get flamed again for bashing the new stuff, but that track was pretty crap.
Had a blast nonetheless, the festival was pretty good overall, Caspa and Feed Me were decent, Skrillex made a great show although i hate his music.
Zane Lowe was terrible. Why so much hype for that guy? He played music for posers and dirty mongoloids, no place on WDF for guys like him.

Am I the only one that enjoyed Dogbite when it had the wobbles in it?

I dunno I felt the wobbles, as much as wobbles are hated in this dojo, gave it an extra kick and used in a unique way, but now it feels flat

@NEOREV

totally agree with your words.

The belgrad gig was the 4th gig this year for me, and the 20th overall.

I love them. and i finally met them at friday and it was awesome. But...

they screw them self. now maxim is a liar, like we see in the interview. there isno more freestyles in it and he misses the smbu drop, that was sad to see.

they 've lost their energy. not the music, the music is timeless and invincible. but the guys are only actors doing the same shit every day.

i expected more, i expected more than just adding weater experience from Milton keynes.the whole weekend was perfect. the gig was great too,but why da fuck the cant do sth suprising, different, for the people, for the fans , the warriors.

like i said, they lost their energy. no energy , no prodigy

All the moaning about the setlist yet the crowd seem to be having a great time... question for the people that went and are moaning about the setlist... did you actually have a good time? were you stood there shaking your heads? were you jumping about having a good time? were you miserable little so and so's refusing the move a muscle unless they dropped something brand spanking new?

I asked Nicky Halkes on twitter if the band or himself check the official and fan forums i.e BK, he said its impossible to track all comments opinions etc but the band do listen to the fans. I told him there was mixed reviews of WDF here due to the setlist. So hopefully the band do listen and take some points on board from whats been said here.
