As I posted before :
I had hopes meeting him - so I put some records into my backpack, also a pen and went to the
carnival of cultures. And what I can say:
Yeah, a dream comes true on sunday, Leeroy really was at the carneval of cultures
and I met him before the carneval procession has begun.
I must say never before I was so close to one of the persons I respect and I´m lookin up to
since years and I was nervous like a little kid waitin for the christmas gifts. And I never
expected talking to him
Leeroy really is a very very friendly person, not arrogant or hyped by fame and glory. The situation
was he was standing at the backmost side of the carnival wagon talking to persons I assume they were
from the organisation of the forthcoming event in the evening. Leeroy shaked hands with them and I was
close right side to him, but he doesn´t have seen me and climbs up the wagon by turning left. So I went
to the side of the wagon.
Then Leeroy was up at the wagon, looks around and suddenly took notice of me. I put my hand up to him
and I greet him, also we shaked hands.
And then there was an unexpected reaction of him, because I asked him:
"Hey Leeroy, I´ve got some records in my backpack. Would you like to sign them for me, please?" and
he said "Yeah!", climbs down the wagon again and comes around to me. I was amazed he took time
for me.
But he hasn´t a pen, but I said after I asked him "How are you?" and he replied "I´m fine, thank you!"
that I can give him a pen. I put out three records I´ve chosen from my collection
[Prodigy FOTL, Flightcrank EP and Hyper Twisted Emotions] and helped him with the plastic sleeves
around the records. Never before I´ve seen someone can hold a cigarette and a big pen in one hand.
I said I respect him and really like his works and asked him about new material, if it will be in stores soon
and he told me, it´s just all only available via download. I said, it´s a sad thing, cos I´m more into
physical products like vinyl and discs with covers around.
During the time he signs my records he told me, that he is somewhere in the audience of this event of
the Hyper - Twisted Emotions Single. I´ve never noticed that, but I assume finding him in this picture is
like the "Where is Waldo" game.
I said "thank you" to him and he gave back my pen. I took photos and one photographer around has done me
the favour, took my camera and made a photo of Leeroy and me. People around look what we´re doing there
and I assume with this situation [doin photos and signing records] I started a little wave of people comin´ to
us and wants something signed by Leeroy or a photo with him - he looked like a little bit spacy and
confused in that short moment :D
So - he hasn´t a pen and lent it again from me over and over by asking me for it. "No problem !" I said to him
and he signed flyers [also for me, too] and posed for photos with some other people around.
What a great mate Leeroy is, very cool person. Sadly I forgot to ask him, if he still reads forums in the
internet i.e. brainkiller or if the myspace side is his own side or just a fan based thing.
I guess - after all - I was so nervous in that situation, I could ask him dozens of questions but no
question comes in my mind this moment, I was totally speechless.... also I don´t wanna waste his time,
I´m not a reporter doin` an interview with him. But I will NEVER forget this happened and I´m still
lucky with my signed records, the photos and havin´ this smalltalk with him.
Leeroy, if you read this: BIG RESPECT TO YOU and I still hope you had a great time here in Berlin !
...and please, think about a physical release.
I made some video-clips I will upload soon !!!
BTW: Thanks to Montana for his information about wagon number, else I never could found Leeroy
Sadly, I wasn´t at the Smash-Hifi event in the evening at the Icon club, because I had to work the next day.
