Is it a common knowledge that there are 2 versions of We Are The Ruffest track?
I have a bootleg compilation called "Everlasting Fire" and there is this early version of the track. Does anyone knows origin of this version. My guess is that it´s on early CD releases of Wind It Up single, or some promo cd of that era. This isn´t vinyl rip, because it have a cd quality (highs are clearer, no vinyl noise ect.). Track is almost indentical to well known mix, but drums are more raw and there are less layered beats. Also some effects are lacking to compared to final version. One can hear that this is earlier version of the track.
I asked a guy who has a YouTube channel of Prodigy stuff to release it, i´m waiting his answer... It´s probably not ok to send a link of the track over here...or how to share it with you?

A common knowledge? I have only heard one. You probably just heard a remastered version from Experience Expanded and the single version.

I was going to say that this was nonsense but after listening to the short clip now I'm intrigued. I think it's the same mix but with some different (minor) arrangements...there's even a vocal "uh" after each beat that I cannot hear on the WIU single or the Expanded Experience version... let us know what you find about this

You are totally right. I just checked all of my Wind It Up singles, and I have this different mix on 2 of them. The German Interchord single and the Torso Dance single from Holland aswell. The beats has more of a jungle feel, the synths sounds a bit more old school, and there's that "Ooh" sample that is way more direct, that loops with the main beats. The beats in the breaks sounds insane compared to the standard in my opinion. This mix sounds more rough and I even prefer this. I never heard these singles, i just collect them and assume the tracks are similar to the XL versions. Great notice! I wonder if there is more different mixes out there. Alternate mix on these 2 releases: https://www.discogs.com/The-Prodigy-Win ... ase/185281https://www.discogs.com/The-Prodigy-Win ... ease/84080

I compared tracks on Audacity and they are 99% same on arrangement level and lenght is same, this "earlier" mix just sounds a bit more demo like, which makes it interesting. Main drumloop sample is from Nu-Matic's - All Over Me, which is up front in that mix. Good to know that it can be found on those German and Holland official cd-singles, thanks for solving the mystery!

I remember hearing this version via the russian forums back in 2018, It sounded like it was a mixing error.

It does have a demo feel, a bit like those different mixes of Android and Charly on that leaked tape.
Why has this only "recently" been noticed? Mind boggling!

The end part doesn't even have the echo for the bassdrum.

Why has this only "recently" been noticed? Mind boggling! I remember hearing about it around 2017/2018. I found it weird and was planning onto uploading it to the prodigy warriors but for some reason I didn't. I guess that's good of me to not upload it there.

Why has this only "recently" been noticed? Mind boggling! probably some people knew about it but wanted to keep it hidden for some childish and weird reason typical behaviour of some prodigy collectors that I've noticed since the early 00's on the net
