From "Painkiller" at nekosite forum:

Quote:
i was at witness and at the time i had just bought the Stereo MC'S DJ Kicks mix, and recognised a huge sample from 'Tell Me Why(revised by soul circuit)' from the Freakniks, which is on that album, in Dust Yousef.

:-D

In an interview with Neko, Liam mentioned that Dust Yoself was a "bootleg mash-up" sort of tune.. the track being described as being very "rocky" with heavy guitars and oldskool breakbeats... it's not hard to imagine that Liam sampled the guitar riffs from another tune...

therefore this question goes out to those who heard the tune......

Were any other samples of the song recognizable??? I'm thinking about the guitar riffs specifically... remind you of anything? :?

Although we may not hear the track anytime soon.. we'll at least have some of the samples

8-)

P.S: Yeah i know this is a long shot.. it being so long since people heard the tune.. but we found out about the beats and bass of the song recently so... who knows? could work! hehe!

Shit son! You've been framed! Ahhhhhh :o

P.S. this is one of the most confusing posts I've ever read. Are you suggesting we reconstruct the song without actually hearing it? oO

I imagined this post would be difficult for those who dont know what a "mash-up" is...

Liam described the original track as a "mash-up" of sorts... in other words... he just stole the beats and bass from this tune Painkiller found... plus (in principle, and going by Liam's description) the guitar riffs from some other tune... if we find the missing sample it shouldnt be much difficult to arrive at something "similar" to the original...

During that period Liam seemed to be in the habit of taking "huge chunks" of other people's tracks for his own tunes... just compare Medusa's Path and the original track Liam sampled for the beat (Jaydee- Plastic Dreams "Hohner Retro Mix") he really just looped a section of the original.. and beefed the sounds a bit...

....at least getting the samples would give rise to a series of incredibly mediocre tracks titled "Dust Yoself" (tralala Remix)

Cheaky slag, ofcourse I know what a mashup is.

I'm just saying that the way you've structured your post was extremley confusing! Anywho why is it so exciting exactly? Liam's probably done thousands of other similar tunes, why not make a case for those too?

Also! You're saying what if we get all the shit together and make the track. How can we do that if we have no clue of the origional structure? :?

Simple! We Dont rekonstrukt the track! The only goal is to make a series of remixes...

As far as the excitement goes.. This is just pure geeky shit for the sake of fan entertainment
