Yeah, single means one featured song. EP stands for Extended play. LP (album) stands for Long play. Singles traditionally didnt have an awful lot to do with albums. Lots of Beatles etc. biggest singles were never actually put on studio albums. I don't know where this "its not on an album and therefore isnt a single" thing has come from.

Its on the ep list because Liam hates it and kinda disowned it, and doesnt want it in his list of singles. Its NOT an EP though

BGAT is a single! XLS145. and was #5 in official UK SINGLES charts back in 2002! Listing it as EP is a mistake! It can't be "Extended Play" because it's not extended! There are 3 tracks on it because UK SINGLES rules says it!

i've got a rough knowledge of Ep's and singles but why is bgat not a single but an ep instead ? i thought ep's had like multiple tracks on it like b-sides etc but where the same length as singles or maybe longer, i'm not sure but bgat cd isn't very long i've got singles with a much larger track time on it

In the United Kingdom, the Official Chart Company defines a cut off between EP and album classification at 25 minutes length or four tracks (plus alternative versions of featured songs).

'Baby's Got A Temper' isn't an EP. I don't know why they have put it under the EP section. Most of The Prodigy's singles are EPs but they are listed as Singles.

though there is a firm written definition of what is an EP, it is sure that the border between single and EP will remain vague in some people's eyes

in this case I wrote on wiki the reason why I think it's classified as an EP:

Quote:
The single was initially released to support what was early stages of their then-to come album, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned. The album got reworked into what it is now and the song was binned. Because the single didn't fit any album, in 2008, the band's official website's discography classified it as an EP.

sounds logical?

The rules on what is and isn't an EP aren't set it stone. The way I interpret the 'rules', the only singles by The Prodigy that aren't EPs are 'No Good (Start The Dance), 'Baby's Got A Temper' and 'Spitfire' because they only contain the title track and remixes of it. Technically speaking singles started out as an A-side and a B-side on 7" vinyl. These days it can mean anything. Singles are now 2 track CDs. Maxi singles are singles with more than 2 tracks so they are more or less the EPs of today. EP is an old term.

Well, rules are changed! Every prodigy single will be EP now if they going to rerelease it, like Charly! Charly is rereleased in 2004 as an EP because there is 4 tracks on it!

But BGAT single is released under the new single rules and there is no any reason for it to be EP! It's just Liam's wish.

Baby's got a Temper is a single, and the album that was supposed to have this track on NEVER CAME. 'New single of forthcoming album' you cunts.

Baby's Got A Temper is probably listed as an EP so people won't bitch, moan and/or complain why it's not to be found on 'Their Law: The Singles'.

By the way, it's the only release that has a DVD version of the track (excluding a bonus like the DVD on IMD - Not sold seperately).

OK then, but why should I care whether something is classified as a single or an EP, when there's no big difference between those two.
I care more about, let's say, why is it spelled 'Hot Ride' in the AONO credits and 'Hotride' on the single :?
