Post subject: | Molotov Beatz - IMD remix used in Fifth Gear S15E1 |
Somebody just discovered that my IMD Remix was used in the UK car show called Fifth Gear. I checked it out and its true. They used a clip of my IMD Remix. : http://youtube.com/watch?v=YhVBm0EkebQ http://youtube.com/watch?v=98FxO_Kpv60& ... annel_page When you look at the end of the episode, you can see that the music editing was done by DAVID LOWE. http://www.davidlowe.co.uk/ dont know who he is but maybe some of you do. Now tell me what should I do. I feel honored of course because its a brutal blow to my haters and all the ''you're music is shit'' arguments and also, I can see that somebody important takes my work seriously but at the same time its about credit you know. I want you guys to discuss this matter and how you would react and feel. This is there email so I guess if we want to be heard we must contact them all of us: fifthgear@five.tv If you wanna tell them my name use this (Omar Houari aka Molotov Beatz from Canada,Montreal city, Province of Quebec) Only those who want to help can do it, if you dont want to I understand but dont tell me you're reasons. I DONT FUCKING WANT ANY '' YOU DIDNT HAVE PERMISSION'' CAUSE I FUCKING DO AND WE ALL DO. REMEMBER THE COPYRIGHTS TEXT AND SHIT. Peace M.B |

So they didn't list any credits at the end? I'd definitely contact someone from the show or the channel its on. Tell them they have to give The Prodigy and you credit for it whenever the re-air it. What if they actually got permission from the label to use your remix, because it says all copyrights belong to them? |

They even warned me not to show those emails. So I guess its all about credit you know. |

I'm leaning more towards the point that although you have permission to post the remix publically, the exclusive rights of the track officially remains the property of Cooking Vinyl/TMTTH. The Fifth Gear producers will probably be a member of a central recording industry (ie British Phonographic Industry www.bpi.co.uk) and have purchased a blanket-license that permits them to use songs without credit, and the royalties are distributed to their relevant labels/artists... Sadly in this case, not you. Personally, if you really want to make a big deal about it, I would be contacting Cooking Vinyl directly and letting them know how your remix was used and asking what rights you have in terms of credits. Be very careful though, you are stepping into serious legal waters here. |

This event has made me stronger, more confident and more determined . They can take da money man, just want them to know that it comes from a fan in a lil bedroom making muzik for plaisure Just like someone use to do . |

Go Molotov!!! Remember the time you said you were going to stay away from the forums for a good time? Hehe. Maybe you should contact them with some of your own music and see if theyre interested in using any of that on any of their future shows? It could be a good start to getting your own music heard by people if they like it? |

Damn straight Molotov! fuck the haters you produce some of the best remixes ive heard, some even better than official remixes and all your asking in return is a little bit of credit atleast, well there is nothing wrong with that, legal or not its your work and you should be credited for it. |

For example: - "No royalty shall be payable by Last.fm for preview clips or any play of Your Content that is less than 30 seconds." An article that mentions how TV companies pay for music: - http://www.showreel.org/article.php?91& ... 639ca976ce |
