I was just wondering how some money thing's work in this band.. anyone knows how the whole sample rights is cleared out? witch sample for liam costed the most? and how the whole process looks? invaders must die sales are 1 mil + so what % of the sales money did the band get and what % did the label got? liam probably gets the biggest cut of them 3, but did keef and maxim even get anything from aono? what about rob and leo? what fee the prodigy gets from their live shows now days? i know their ticket princeses got a little higher than their law era in 2005-2006. how much does liam take for remixing a song? etc. |

i've heard (from reliable source close to organizer of their concert) it's not often said 200.000 euro but less. |

about sampling: as Liam said in some interview it's really what the sample is worth to you. the payment goes via music labels the sampler and sample owner are under i reckon. i fink the most expensive sample was MJ's Thriller. the "oh my god that's some funky shit" was quite a lot as well |

Also "we're going in full throttle". 5000 pounds at that time. |

liam did NOT sample thriller. he recreated the sample with help of guy who helped MJ wrote the song (so it appears to be identical, however its not strictly sampled). i remember LH saying that recreating sample's is killing the vibe by the way (he said that about firestarter's art of noise sample, xl didnt want to pay for it so he made second version with sample recreated but it sucked) |

didn't know this. but they still had to get some kind of a licence for that right? to release a track with the recreated sample |

I remember that interview as well as he said him and Neil Mclellan spent ages trying to recreate that sound The same goes for people who will re-record a vocal rather than use the original as then you are paying for the songwriters fee and not the original artist, works out cheaper |

Liam visited writer of Thriller personally at his home and ask for sample, but he give him only permission to recreate it, not to sample it. Was it free for Liam/XL or they needed to pay for is unknown. Liam also use more thriller samples (probably recreated also) in remix. |

This is also recreation of sample (or maybe re-re-refiltered), and it's used without any verbally or signed permission. |

Are you sure about that? I think that they actually "stole" it from movie, and release track as a b-side. And letter when track appears on album, they censor (reverse) this sample. |

I've read it somewhere a long time ago, I'll try to find the source. LE: Yeap, I was wrong. It was the sample from "Fire", not Full Throttle. And it was about 4000, not 5. That's what I get from killing my brains with beer. |
