Now this is really weird. First the fact that my question got deleted on youtube, second is that the audio to the recording got blocked 5 hours after i posted the question.

This is the video. The full amateur recording of the '97 Moscow gig.

The original post was about me asking a question. The question was: "How the fuck does Liam launch Firestarter if both of his hands are on the W30?" By that I mean that he holds the key with the Jade Claw sample with one hand, and his other hand is on the pitch bend wheel. I respect the man and I think that it's impossible to play his music live (with a small exception of Poison, Narayan Beats and Gabba, which in this case is a semi-live-key-holding-live), but I always thought that he launches other tracks by himself. Still I don't get it. If he did launch the tracks, then HOW??

Take a look at the pro-shot recording of Firestarter, the track starts while he's still bending the sample's pitch, so there is no way he can launch the track by himself.

Does anybody know where did he store the tracks while performing and how did he launch them? Cause I'm guessing that storing every track on the S2000 was impossible back then.

I know a lot of topics have been made about this, but seriously, let's talk about this very issue right here.

I think we all know just about 75% of a gig is just playback, so... there's nothing to talk about
i hear live drums and live guitar and sometime some additional beats or effects these days. rest is just playback which is kinda normal for a band that plays electronic music. so i dont even care who launches the tracks and why.

If you look at brixton 96 firestarter (if i remember correctly that's the one), you can actually see liam doing nothing really but holding the edge of his synth when the track starts, so it's not like he launched it.

If you look again the pro shoot, you can see that Liam push a button on his W30 before using the pitch wheel

I think Liam launches the track, but there a few secondes of silence before the real track start, it can work like that on Ableton, you can launch a sample, but it will only get played after 4 bars for exemple

It wouldn't be such a shocker to find out he doesn't even start the tracks. You can catch him pretending to play his keyboards with no sound coming out these days too

i'm sure there was different cases.

it's in some means logical to play-back The Red Square gig. just not to get ass kicked by KGB if you fuck something up. or dissapoint 200 000 people.

i'm sure he did even more behind the keyboards back then. well, 99% of the gigs.

and i thinks it's clear he launches tracks nowdays,,after started using laptops.

and is there really such difference between launching each invidual track or just letting playlist do it's work. :)
