An interesting interview which helps explain what happened to the tracks from last year, they got bored of them and started again. Does any of this sound familiar? Liam Howlett for example? Massive attack piss me off just as much as him with their wastage of top quality tracks which will never see the light of day. What is it with these two? They seem to mirror each other...

3D is pretty fucked up by doing this
they got bored? then they should of released those tracks last year on an album and in 2010 another album.

i know what you mean. however, i also understand that writing an album is a process and that you can decide to change radically in relatively late stage. without recordings on the internet nobody would now if they where missing it..

I agree, they should have done this. It's not as if those tracks were poorly recieved. Their gaps between albums are just as bad as Prodigy's...

We just feel passionate about the music we like. Some of the tracks getting thown away are in my opinion some of the best songs ever created by anyone, so I just feel it's a real shame. Sure it's not my band and they can do what they like, but yeah...
Anyway I've been listening to all of the brand new Massive Attack tracks and I'm loving Babel, quality song that one. Then I like Heartcliffe Star. Bulletproof Love sounds more like a movie score. Red Light has been changed too much and loses much of its goodness, as has Marrakesh. 16 Seeter is still good...

Babel is one of the better ones, yeah. Never liked red light that much, so no strong opinions there. New Marakesh sounds like an improvement so far, love the bass on this one.
I think the live version of tracks are not a good reference point for imagining how the new album will be. some of their best tracks like teardrop dont sound impressive live, imagine hearing them before mezzanine came out; you would not be expecting much of it.
still it is crazy the even considered dropping harpischord and kingpin. fuck sake..

I saw Rob after the show in glasgow tonight, he's actually a really nice guy..
gave me all access passes for tomorrow night.
I also asked him about no souvenirs.. he said that it was basically a spur of the moment project that they didn't release soon enough after it was finished and ended up forgotten about, he did say it may happen some day but its liams decision aswell.... (so maybe not) he also said UNKLE remix sound nothing like it.
And Horace Andy is funny as fuck, a big drunken Rasta
