Yep, the first word that I could think of to describe the Ultra Music Festival is sick. It's so damn good it makes me sick. For those non-Americans, Miami is a ripoff city. It's HELLA expensive (like staying in London). Add on to that fact, it should be re-named "Crime City, USA". But with that said, I gotta figure out a way to go to this!

Just look at two of the stages....

Breakbeat Stage: Stanton Warriors, Hybrid, Pendulum, DJ Icey, Hyper, Krafty Kuts, Meet Katie, General Midi, etc

Drum and Bass Stage: "Planet of the Drums" featuring AK1200, Dieselboy, Dara and Messinian, then there's Andy C, Goldie, ShyFX, Evol Intent, etc.

And of course there is Moby, Carl Cox, Sander Van Doorn, Ferry Corsten, Underworld, Tiesto, Justice, Carl Cox, Josh Wink, Digitalism, The Crystal Method and shitloads more. Holy fuck, this ten year anniversary is just plain nuts.

I think the lineup is pretty good, a lot of the same faces as always. What I don't like about it is it's too spread out over the two days. While I understand doing that from *their* perspective, as someone who's flown down to Miami the last 2 years to go to it, I personally prefer just going the one day on the Saturday.

I don't want to go to Ultra 2 days in a row, spend ridiculous amounts of money on tickets, drinks, and get ass-raped $40 for parking for two days. I want to go on the Saturday, party my ass off, then recover on Sunday. The other thing is that the Saturday is generally an open slate by promoters b/c of Ultra. Friday however there are some of WMC's best club shows. Last year I went to ViRam (Virus & Ram Records) while Steve (ChumpClassic) went to Justice. I think we'd both pick the shows we went to over Ultra on Friday night. The mid-week shows are what really make WMC. The show me & Chump went to last year w/ Z-Trip, DJ Craze, Scratch Perverts, and Krafty Kuts was incredible... and for only $20, i'll take that over Ultra for 2 straight days.
