hey guys, for years i've been wanting to put out an actual physical/digital pro-sounding/looking album and i'm currently talking with a mastering company about putting the final touches on an album worth of tracks (12-14 tracks). i found a place that would replicate and print up pro-looking 4 panel digipacks as well as some poster and some shirts. i wanted to get feedback from the BK crew to see what would be more cost effective. it's gonna cost a pretty penny, but i've always wanted to do it. help me out and give your opinion with this poll. i appreciate the time and will use the results to help with my decision. -NR- |

Dude honestly, why just settle for iTunes? Go for multiple outlets if you're going for digital sales. Hit up iTunes, Beatport, etc. . You'll greatly expand your distribution capabilities and hit multiple audiences all at the same time. Remember, like with anything, not everyone uses the same thing all over the world. Start with digital sales, once you feel your revenue is stable enough to take a moderate risk, invest in physical property for consumers. Atleast with digital media, it costs either nothing, or very little for you to invest into. Physical media is a bit more costly. Sadly enough I pissed away 2 grand on what I call a very expensive prank. By leaving my bass in stereo and watching the guys pressing my track to vinyl get very pissed off and frustrated seemed to be enough for me to get my jollies off and worthy of the loss of money. i see what you're saying... but also, a feature by pressing these CDs, the company will also be uploading my tracks on iTunes and Digstation where i will keep 100% of my royalties. so let's say hypothetically close to 200 people pay $10 to download... then i made back all my money and the CDs and posters and t-shirts are actually free. which i could use the CDs to send out to local radio stations, magazines, newspapers, and DJs to help promote. i'm even looking at page ad pricing to help promote the album as well. |

Voted for the $10 CD release, I like having a physical disk to rip and play. A poster would be cool but I'd have to see what it looks like before buying. Good luck Neorev! |

so i was approached by an independent label based in New Jersey called Norotek Records. i've been speaking to the girl named V who created it for a little while now. i showed her a few tracks a while back and finally just gave her the album demo a couple of weeks ago. she really dug it and said she would help with financing and promotion. Norotek already has a compilation album out, physically and digitally, with another label called Fight The Scene with styles ranging from jungle to breakcore to metal. so fingers crossed, the ball may be rolling. check them out at: NOROTEK RECORDS |
