John Cage's infamous silent piece, 4'33'' is to be re-recorded by a host of famous musicians next Monday with the intention of releasing it to compete with X factor for the Christmas number 1 single.
Eddy Temple Morris is one of the many famous faces backing it with The Prodigy checking their diary to hopefully be involved as well.
On the week beginning December 13th, the usual chart battle for Christmas number one begins... let's make it a silent night on Radio 1.
We'll send out a chart-eligible buy link to the official CAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE re-recording of the track on December 13th.
Don't buy the track before then if you want it to count - wait for the email, and invite your friends!
ALL PROFIT FROM THIS CAMPAIGN GOES TO CHARITY: be it ad revenue from the site,
http://catm.co.uk, or sales money from the release. Details of the benefitting charities can be found here:
http://www.catm.co.uk/charitiesOur recording of 4'33" will be recorded next Monday, and released via WALL OF SOUND, who have generously agreed to help us get the track available in as many online stores as possible. This is completely legal, and done with the blessing of the rights holders to the track, Edition Peters. The rerecording is happening because the original is in three movements, and therefore not chart eligible, and also to channel more royalty money to our charities and more attention to the campaign at large
