Definately not a nerd movie! I thought it was nothing short of brilliant. Does help if you have at least an interest in or know a little about the series, but it's not essential by any means.
I definately recommend downloading the comic book ST:Countdown too, it fills a lot of the back story in. You can find it on the torrents.

Take it from me, who has seen most of the shows and movies of the old star trek..This new movie blows em all to hell And its a restart of the franchise, so you don't have to see the old stuff at all.

Both my Mom and Sister have seen it, my Mom loved the original series on TV, but hated all the others, and she loved the film. My sister hated everything Star Trek related but was forced to see the film and she thought it was brilliant.
I really want to see it now!

you guys have luck. In Poland only the biggest cinemas have the rights to play this movie, so i have 140 km to the nearest cinema with star trek playing. Fuck!!!!:(:(:( Now tell me, how cant we love piracy, if its the only way to watch some movies.
I will be watching now: Horsemen . will tell u later if its any good:)
