'Prometheus' Breaks Imax U.K. Pre-Sales Record
4 May 2012
The Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green starrer smashes ticket pre-sales at the BFI Imax theater.
Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is proving an eye-popping draw for the BFI Imax theater in central London as pre-sales for the movie break records.
Scott’s movie, starring a galaxy of stars including Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green, has booked 18,287 tickets in hits first full week of presales at the theater.
It translates into £293,312 ($474,687) in gross pre-sale tickets, the highest grossing week ever.
The standalone flagship IMAX theater also reported its highest grossing first day of pre-sales ever, taking £137,000 ($221,717).
The take has beaten other high-profile IMAX rollouts in the U.K. including Harry Potter And the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Avatar and The Dark Knight.

'Prometheus' Now Officially Rated R!
7 May 2012
Genre and horror fans can do a little celebrating today as the argument regarding the rating of Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi film Prometheus has been settled. Many fans were worried the film would be slapped with a PG-13 to bring in a broader audience and possibly soften the violence and scares.
That is not the case, however, as 20th Century Fox has now confirmed that Prometheus, out in one short month on June 8, will be rated R for “sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language.” Awesome!

yeah it is nice, but the R does not mean it's going to be gory (I actually wouldn't want it to be). it might be a "lighter" R, we'll see.

To quote Ridley Scott himself: "Of course, what I want to do [with Prometheus] is scare the living shit out of you."
It's going to be gory alright – and apparently very much so.

gory does not neceserally equal scary (with which I am perfectly ok) - I guess we'll need to wait and see.

Ridley has never been about gory, more about psychological scares

Oh, I didn't mean that it's all about the gore of course but it's part of the Alien movies – Ridley's first included – and Prometheus is no exception.

Are u serious? Ridley was always about gory, Alien, Black Rain, 1942, Gladiator, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, all of these were R rated movies, with a lot of blood and gore effects, and thats why i love his movies, he is not a george lucas who needs more money so he is doing all his movies in PG-13. Ridley was always a guy who did R rated movies, thats why i was a little bit dissapointed with his Robin Hood movie. Now i have hope to see prometheus as an R not PG-13, and as far as i know, there is hope for that.
