I'm sorry but his movies have the worst fight choreography and that training video of him on youtube just is awful.

He is better at ballet than at fight choreography thats for sure.

When I was a kid I grew up with his movies and was crazy about him, along with Steven Segal and Bruce Lee.

But... as far as being a Real Deal Martial Artist and someone who helped push Martial Arts (in the U.S. back in the late 60's) in a more "realistic" direction in terms of training... etc... You can't look past Bruce...

Yes I know this aint a Van Damme vs... whoever thread.. But Van Damme is a "Movie" Martial Artist more than anything else.

Van Damme was my favourite martial art actor years ago, and one of my top 3 action mens of hollywood (Arnie, and Sly seconds ones). Now when i grew up i dont like him as an actor, because he cant act...i thought so 3 days ago, but JCVD movie changed my mind about him. He showded up that he is a good actor too. Even more, now i'm think he is the most talented action star ever. Just look on Dolph Lundgren, he finished some Prestige Cinematography College, and he cant play...All Stephen Seagals, Chuck Norris, and the rest of 80-90 action stars cant compare with Jean. Go watch JCVD to prove yourself how good Jean could be. Great performance, great movie.

shit actors,memories of a forgotten age.but at least chuck norris and steven seagal were really in the army and deployed in war zones.those guys i can believe they can kick anybodys ass.not so sure about the others
