Picked up Games tm magazine earlyer today and read the preview on this shit. Man I can't wait for it now!!!!!! I'll be honest and say I wasn't THAT impressed with Metroid Prime 2: echos ( I thought the ether world was kind of boring) so when the third installment was anounced I wasn't overly pumped! Then the first demo that was realeased for it..... the controls looked shite to say the least.
However latest play tests have revealed that the controls have been tweaked to perfection and some new fucking sweet developments have come along. I'll quote you some stuff from this magazine (yea I'm a fucking gimp xD)
"the mildly uncontrollable nature of play present in demos last year has completley dissapeared. The expert control scheme makes the expierience even more fluid for those that have the digit dexterity to take advantage of it."
"The Wii's control method has been fully exploited with near every instance possible being manipulated by arm movement rather than button presses. Air locks must be opened by pulling back your nunchuck hand and then twisted until the on-screen handle locks onto the correct place. It's impressive, but not nearly as impressive as the use of Samus' grapple beam. In our opinion, this is an element of the lady's arsenal that's never been used to it's fullest, being limeted to chasm crossing and not much else. Now it can be thrown out with a flick of your hand and attached to passage-blocking rubble and debris. Another flcik sees said rubble being thrown from your path.
More pleasing still is the fact that it can now be used to hurls some enimies into the air - a position most don't want to be in as it tends to end in you locking on and unleashing a quick but still devistating flurry of which ever beam you're currently armed with. It's also capable of draining an enimies power and relieving foes of any defensive shielding they may be grasping."
Although the graphics so far are only slightly better then the cube versions that's no biggie as the graphics were pretty damn good on those anyway! You only notice it after you've been playing something like GOW on your 360 and you're like wow those were some wicked graphics.
It does look fucking bright for Metroid 3!
P.S. on the whole grahpics arguement. I'm with nintendo on this one. Games are just becoming boring, naive (sp?) and repetitive because devs concentrate so much on the game looking pretty. The gameplay suffers! Think how good the gameplay is going to be in Prime 3 with a lot less times spent sprucing up books cover. Good things will come of it!
