Record-breaking 165,000 PS3s sold at UK launch 18:45, Mar 26th 2007 by Neil Long New format becomes fastest-selling home console ever over its debut weekend. ChartTrack has confirmed that 165,000 PS3 units were sold during the console's launch weekend. The figure is three quarters of the total 220,000 UK launch stock for day one, and makes PS3 second only to PSP in the overall launch weekend sales stakes. The Sony handheld shifted 185,000 in its opening weekend back in September 2005. PS3’s record-breaking debut for a home console comfortably beats the previous top seller Nintendo Wii, which sold 105,000 after its frantic launch weekend in December last year. Fellow format rival Xbox 360 racked up an estimated 70,000 at launch in December 2005. Nice! Atleast nobody got shot! I remember the initial release date here, they had people on the news getting shot, beaten, and robbed upon walking out of the store with a system. That's a little excessive for gaming fans! On a minor side note, enough with the bitching about sony already, and the fanboy, etc comments. i realise there's alot of xbox fans here and that xbox has been a long running big topic theme in the game section. that's fine, but please respect not everyone is a fan of the same system. i no more encourage someone to enter a wii or 360 topic to blast them as fanboys and needing their own section than i would someone who likes sony. please respect this section for all gaming platforms, pc included, thank you

i've had a wii since it december, just got a 360 2 weeks ago, and will be getting a PS3 when it drops in price a bit. I just love games, I never get this fanboyism crap. You go to Gamefaqs.com and its full of that shit. I think every system has something different to offer. The only system I have stayed away from is the PSP. But I will probably get that when they bring out God of War for it. Now this is not a fanboy comment, as I like all 3 systems, BUT... I personally hope that Nintendo does well because their last 2 systems didn't sell well. Thats all. Sony now has a big enough fan base I'm sure they'll do ok, 360 is doing fine, except in Japan. yeh yeh yeh. Now I gotta go download Castlevania : Symphony of the Night from xbox live. My ps disc is scratched like fark! |

me too, should try gamespot forums its posibly worse place for fanboys some of them are really pathetic with what they say, no facts just pure bullshit and bickering like little old women makes you wonder if they are actually gamers sometimes, but i too agree with the_last_ninja post

oh shit nice. Good on Sony for getting enough consoles out there. Something the other 2 bastards should have done, they both had me running around for months. -edit- lmao @ at that petition against capcom how pathetic is that. Oh and sorry if I come accross as anti-sony sometimes. I had a bad expierience back in high school when all my friends had PS2's and I had a gamecube  .
Oh and last ninja, I dl'd that shit the other day and I'm absoloutly hooked on it. What an awesome game! I think Side scrolling games have so much to offer. veautiful Joe braught side scrolling into a new generation. I don't see why other companies can't do it with one of the next gen consoles! |

.LOL, thats hilarious. I kinda had the same situation only we all played the gamecube more when ppl got together because of all the 4 player games. |

Dreamcast is still the greatest console so far ,imo  . It feels like since Sega got out of the business games have become far too serious, they've lost that quick pick up and play feel of the arcade that made the old sonics and crazy taxi etc so fun. It's all acheivments this and 100% completion that. The only exception to the rule seems to be the Nintendo DS.
