I'm going with "Stunts".
Anybody remember this? It's from 1990.

Very simple game, but you could design your own tracks with barrel rolls, loopings, open bridges, etc. And then race it with a F1 car! Had tons of fun with it when I was young.

Forza Morotrsport 2.
They nailed the audio in that game. The car's were beautiful.... The tracks wern't so beautiful! But as an overall package it's a fucking great game. the physics engine is spectacular. It has one key thing over GT. The performance upgrades, it just ads that element of fun into the game. On top of all that the online community is awesome if you dig deep into it, coupled with the microsft wheel this game whittled away a lot of my time! Oh and the livery design!
Cogs I don't know how you can put GT5 in there when it isnt't even released yet :S. Evz is right too. PGR isn't a simulator, it's an arcade game.

Mario Kart for the SNES.
JK. I don't really like racing sims but I really liked Gran Turismo 2 on PS1.

Not too keen on this kind of games (more into rally), my favorite is Colin McRae 3, the sequels didnt match the third version. But since then never played really attention to these type of games, only played need for speed 2 and that tunning stuff and crap annoyed me. And Mario Kart on N64 rocks indeed, simple and funny
