Of Course We Have The New Generation of consoles but there are still many people who love to go back to the old consoles were the gameplay and story matters more than the graphics.

this is a really tricky one for me because i've fell in love with so many consoles over the years.

but if i was to pick one it would be the Nintendo 64, it felt ahead of its time, felt alot better than a playstation, it sprung an amazing amount of games in its time that i felt kicked every other consoles ass at the time, to me the N64 was nintendo's peak, sort of like prodigy's fat of the land, it was their best.

so for you, what was your favourite past time console ?

it can be any console from Xbox to the Atari2600

My favorites consoles:

N64, SNES, Nintendo DS/GBA, then Gamecube. Lately, Xbox360.

But I had the most unique moments with 90% of the Rare games on N64.

Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, 3, Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Starfox Adventures, Battletoads, Diddy Kong Racing... the list goes on and on!

Snes was the most nostalgic for me...

*shivers* Super Metroid, Link to the Past, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, etc etc... Noone is gonna top that for me.

speaking of Link to the Past...

check the "Minimal Quest FAQ" here (simply understand what it consists of, and check the last paragraph of section 4)

then check this:

8-) I shouldn't take any credit for this as I used an emulator lol

Yeah, the N64 was the best old school console by far then I would go for the xbox console (which is not that old).

Link, Zelda, Mario Kart, International Superstar soccer (n64) , Killer Instinct... so many good games for the n64 console. I read some info that a new killer instinct will be made for the 360... hopefully this is true!

The N64 isn't even close to being the best old skool console. It had a handful of great first party games and an even smaller handful of great third party games. The Playstation kicked its ass in terms of volume and nearly matched it in quality (This is coming from a life-long Nintendo fanboy, folks.. it's just the facts).

If I were to pinpoint the console to end all consoles, it would have to be the SNES. Pioneering graphics, sound, and quality. Tons of great first party games, tons of great third party games. It's the RPG paradise, the platformer nexus, and it continued to grow and get better via cartridge add-ins for years.

It's funny you should bring up this topic of retro gaming, as I just bought a Sega Saturn on Ebay that I plan to mod to played burned games. The SS is apparently the greatest 2D gaming console ever made, but America never got the great 2D games... which is why no one gives a crap about the Saturn here.

Hmmmmm, I have a feeling we might need to list our credentials. If your first gaming console was a 3D system, you're going to have a MUCH different view than those of us who started with the NES (or older!).

Started gaming with an atari and the horrible 'name this game'.

Most of gaming favorite gaming memories lie with the NES. Double Dragon games, Castlevania games, and the best game ever made Super Dodgeball! lol I seriously love that game. It's my all time favorite game. I had so much fun with my NES that is has to be my favorite console.

2nd best for me is probably the N64 and then a tie for 3rd with the 360 and Gamecube.

A lot of this is to do with your age, I'm 20 and for me it was the N64, it was just great multiplayer fun.

I still load up diddy kong racing on my N64 emulator for PC.

well I'm nearly 30 (yeh 30!) and I'm was brought up on games, like the atari 2600.

I personally feel the last "classic" console was the SNES. Just a shitload of kick ass games right there. Don't get me wrong I like all systems and I've got nearly every thing ever released, not counting all them old computers like the amstrads, etc. Right now I got all the current shit and I'll put up some pix of my set up sometime soon.

I got too much stuff everywhere, its a video game nerds paradise. lucky i got a good missus who dont care bout what I buy and do.
