Stupid thing, thought i had it installed correctly, but no, i thought it had deleted XP and gave me my full 400GB back on my hard drive, but it just installed over the top leaving me 150GB left.... so i go to setup bios thing to set it to boot from CD/DVD, i do that correctly and press a button to boot from CD/DVD and the Windows 7 screen jsut sticks there with mouse cursor ontop doing nothing,so i had to go install xp again, grrrrrrrrrrrr

be gentil with it it supose to give you problems,it's still a beta.
best way is to dlete the old partition entirely,re-format it and then do a clean instal, not a upgrade.delete the partition first.
and even if you scre up,try again a few more times.it's worth it in the end.
and dude you should have posted in the older thread so we could have all the nice info in one place.
get back with details.
oh and try instaling it on another partition if you have the space, leave the old xp one alone

I'm running windows 7 right now. Used a image from a pirate site, but works fine. With an activation crack after the installation

Had it on a test machine for a while. Liked it, but needed the test machine for something else, so had to erase it. Need to have another look again and see how it behaves in a domain.

im not gonna risk windows 7 as my pc is only a pentium4 - 2.66ghz 1GB RAM
dont even think vista would work well on it, but im looking to reboot and don't wanna use the old windows xp pro disc from 2001.
i have seen many new custom made versions of xp which have been created to prevent you having to find all your updates and drivers. are they safe?
what the best version of custom xp, i have seen different versions on demonoid that look like vista and have sp3 and firefox - are they better than just installing sp2 basic and updating everything (which takes ages)

don't install those versions of xp the customs one.they eat a lot of resources because they have all kind of programs aded to them.best for you is xp sp2 or sp3.then you can instal a vista transformation pack, recomend the vista inspirat 2 from bricostore.perfectly safe, requires a minimum 256mb ram and has a lovely vista interface.also you can uninstall it if you don't want it and resotre your pc to previous settings
but if you want win 7 go for it,your processor is good and your ram is good too, cause win 7 eats less rexources than vista.1gb ram is just perfect for it,you can even use the aero them with no problems.
conclusion: no tunned up win xp versions.
install either xpsp2,sp3 or win 7

i might go for windows 7 then and keep xp on another partition, a few questions:
what build is the most stable?
finally what about programs made for xp?
will i not be able to use my antivirus software or music programs (Reason4.0, Ableton Live, etc) on windows 7 ?
