I'm happy for the boys but this means too many people will like the prodigy now Less breathing space for me. When I'll be running around in my prodigy gear now I'll just be one of the many.
But with such a great album, we couldn't expect anything less.

Don't worry about it, this album was always going to be number one as soon as they brought the release date forward so it didnt clash with U2 releasing theirs. AONO went to number one its first week and that had awful sales overall.

well think this, its hard to get a platinum record these days, and over in the UK, platinum is like half a million compared to here. So it did pretty good in its first week!

On the other hand Kings of Leone was #1 in first week with about 220,000 copies sold.

Well for USA Gold Record is 500,000 units, Platinum is 1,000,000 units For UK, Gold Record is 100,000 units, Platinum is 300,000 units So they've done really well for a UK group so far - went gold their first week, will probably go platinum eventually. UncannyRy wrote: Congrats to you East of the ponders! Hopefully we can hold our own here in the states. There aren't any songs on the album featuring Rihanna or Lil Wayne though so it probably won't fare too well.
I think it's more that most people in the USA don't even know the album is out - most people know Prodigy from Firestarter days, but you never hear anything about them over here in the states and since they rarely tour in the USA (compared to Europe) it makes sense that most Americans wouldn't know - I mean I haven't seen any advertisements about the new album over here at all - I have to get all my 'Prodigy news' from UK/European sites like NME.
The American critics have been lukewarm towards the album also - Pitchfork gave it a 5.8/10 (which is pretty good for Pitchfork, they are very harsh usually) and AllMusic gave it a 3/5; general consensus is that it's simply 'by the books' rave music that is decent but not particularly fresh or exciting like MFTJG or TFOTL.

Oh well we were at the top for 1 week...
"U2 are on course to score their 10th UK number one album, outselling the rest of the top 10 combined on Monday.
The group's 12th album No Line on the Horizon sold 64,698 copies on its first day on sale, Music Week magazine said.
That is four times more than its nearest rival, The Prodigy's Invaders Must Die. But it is less than other big releases of recent months."

Me too, but it seems really difficult, as U2 sold only on Monday 65.000 copies, as subtract said before.

I wish they got the same promotion here as they did everywhere else. I bet they could have hit number two this week.
