Nah. I'm not being a fanboy, but I think The Prodigy is a great name for a band:

From Dictionary.com:

Quote:
prod⋅i⋅gy
   /ˈprɒdɪdʒi/ [prod-i-jee] –noun, plural -gies.
1. a person, esp. a child or young person, having extraordinary talent or ability: a musical prodigy.
2. a marvelous example (usually fol. by of).
3. something wonderful or marvelous; a wonder.
4. something abnormal or monstrous.
5. Archaic. something extraordinary regarded as of prophetic significance.

Not quite sure about that bit though... ;)

i agree
its quite a shitty name, coz it doesnt make sense now.
in 90 the prodigy was only Liam Howlett.
but now its a band, and it sounds pretty much stupid.

Worst band names are the ones named after it's main character.
Like Britney Spears. It's her name, why her band's name has to be this? I would (halfly) understand it if she would do EVERYTHING, but she doens't do fuck at all, just sings the vocal and maybe writes the lyrics. Music is made by some other poor cunt. Music... I mean sound, that's not music :D

did a mod edit my post, or what? and who was it?

I actually wrote "Prodigy", but as I didn't write the word "The", I was reffering to a rapper that comes 2nd in the chronology, that stole the nickname from a great electronic band, and because of that databanks are fucked up, record shops are confused, and I once got a "Prodigy" album as birthday present

I used to be in a band called Dogshit Sandwich! How's that??

And that band mentioned in the film 'The Commitments' always tickled me:

And And And.

Think it's just the way the one bloke's asking what the band was called, and then he repeats is as:

"And And Fuck'n AND?!?!?!?!?!?!"

'Angel Queef' is a classic too. But my all time favourite band name, simply because a mate of mine used to have to ask for them by name when buying their stuff:
