On April 10th The Prodigy are playing at the M.E.N. arena...here at Carry On we are very excited to announce we will be hosting the official afterparty with very special guests, old skool legends - Kicks Like A Mule.
Kicks Like A Mule blasted into the top 10 with their underground anthem 'The Bouncer' in 1992,a track born when its creators Nick Halkes and Richard Russell took a little time out from their day jobs running XL Recordings-signing and breaking anthems from the likes of The Prodigy ,SL 2 and Liquid.
As well as smashing with 'The Bouncer' (later to be covered by The Klaxons) the team also remixed Awesome 3s enormous 'Dont Go' around the same time.
After a 15 year break and inspired by the aforementioned cover, the duo reunited and 'answer-covered' Gravitys Rainbow which was originally written by The Klaxons. Massive support from the likes of Zane Lowe and Rob Da Bank followed. Next up were re-rubs of Daft Punk, The Gossip and Mehdi , official remixes of Axwell and MIA and firing DJ sets at the likes of Chalk, Epidemik at Ministry of Sound, Bangface, Break!!! and most notably a jaw dropping peak time Saturday night set at Bestival.
Fast forward to 2009 and a new Kicks Like A Mule record and mixtape are due soon featuring hot Brooklyn rappers Ninjasonik plus some rather special remixes are also in the works.....
This is a rare opportunity to catch these old school legends meshing both old school and nu skool in a way that only they can. With our highly acclaimed residents Steve Thorpe (Tangled Breaks) and Resistance on beat support this will no doubt be a superb aftershow party worthy of the one and only breakbeat legends that are, The Prodigy.
