my ju-jitstu instructor had an old tape of Steven Seagal teaching his students sometime in the 90's. Man he was brutal on his students. He was a bit of an ass hole but I think he was getting his point across for sure! I don't think he's as "FAKE" as anyone else we're talking about here. I'd say he's got more creditials and authenticity to his art than Dolph or JCVD..
Guys like Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal were good back in their day. But they are past it. As is Jackie Chan, he had a wicked reputation for not using special effects... now he's fucked that up by doing these hollywood movies with.. SPECIAL EFFECTS! now.. in the coming decades how are people supposed to know what is really JC or a stunt double or a special effect?
I know we all can't agree... but one thing I'm sure we may be able to agree on is the best thing to happen to martial art movies in a long time is
TONY JAA!!!
The only thing I hate when I hear about TJ is people comparing him to Bruce, and suggesting JAA could beat him...
beat him at what? a backflip contest? well.... for sure!

dont know man. Tony Jaa is very very cool. But movie fighting is still only movie fighting.
Steven Seagal.. hehe I could say very much about him.. It's all truth, but I think its bad karma. So i wont do it. Lets just say thats hes not the bad-ass he likes to think he is.
Chuck Norris on the other hand.. He was a real bad-ass fighter. mad respect to him.

yes man.. I know S.S. is a bit of a dick so its all good man.. say what ya gotta say haha.
Jaa is very cool.. and no one can say for certain really can they about who would win hey? According to people who knew Bruce, when he actually sparred and when any of the real fights that were witnessed by them he was alot different to his "movie" martial art... less flashy and straight to the point. I remember Bob Wall was saying that when he fought an extra from Enter the Dragon that Bruce forced the guy backwards til the guy was on his back and then arm locked him and knee trapped him... and then "bloodied up his face." No long poses and somersault kicks there!
Nobody really knows much about Tony Jaa's Street Fighting ability yet.. But the guy is one hell of a freak and truly has awesome abilities.
God damn... Whenever I get into these Bruce Lee talks I wish the guy was still alive! also Brandon too.. they both should still be alive today really.
ALSO!!!
Bruce vs. Chuck is still my fav fight scene ever. Those guys trained together for 3 years... Chuck was already a champ in his weight div before he started training with Bruce.

dude you forgot Street Fighter!!!! haha.. nah you know I'm just kidding..
I think out of the films you just mentioned I like Cyborg the most. But I haven't seen it in a long while.. haha... actually... first thing that popped into my head was the campfire scene where the chick gets her boobs out...
on another note... Kickboxer.. what was his gf's name in that movie? Mei Li? or something right?

The videos were good. I've always loved him as a martial artist. Though Jet Li I think reigns supreme in this day and age, even above Jackie Chan who pretty much revolutionized with drunken boxing. I only wish there were some way to pin a lot of the best martial artists in the world against each other from various styles of fighting to see who really is best. UFC and things like that are cool but try to test world champions, now that would be fun!

Well I think its a stupid thing to do. But if i should rank the actors in term of who can fight best in real life, i can show you a list. But i think many would be suprised by who i choose.
so from best fighter to worst:
1: Chuck Norris
2: Scott Adkins
3: Michael Jai White
4: Bruce Lee
5: Jet Li
6: Tony Jaa
7: Wesley Snipes
8: Jacke Chan
9: J.C. Van Damme
10: Steven Segal

Chuck above Bruce? well.. thats fine I guess. Chuck is more of a stand up kinda guy. More of a martial art Purist than most of those others. While Bruce learnt from guys who were the best in their "field" He would learn from everybody. Such as Wally Jay. A Top Ju-Jitsu Instructor in the U.S... or Jhoon Rhea labelled as the "father of American TKD", Judo from guys like Gene Le Bell, Bruce is more well rounded than Chuck and probably any of the other guys we're talking about here. His speed and precision with his striking was supreme. His conditioning was over the top. He was incorporating Fencing and western boxing into his art. Realistic sparring with his students going "all out" while wearing full protection. He was lifting weights while it was a "risky" thing to do among martial artists because there was a common belief it would restrict your movement... Bruce was doing all this while guys were sticking to their 1 main art or "confinement" and who were winning Tournaments without landing a single blow.
It's easy to overlook Bruce as just a movie guy or being overrated... But then when you go watch the footage of him doing unbelievable feats then its easy to remember why people make (or used to make) a big deal about him.
It's obvious who my "number 1" is... But to me Bruce is more than just "some guy who jumped around and makes funny noises." From his writings and the things he went through in life I've learnt to not judge people by race, and to be more open to researching and experiencing other martial arts.
Sorry for the big speech. I'm as passionate about Martial Art and Bruce Lee as I am about The Prodigy...
