yup your right mate, aono wasnt spectacular by any means, couple of decent choons but it wernt very good. but that might explain the lack of promotion. they did a half decent job on their law mind. and that was good

I think it was good, because in France when i talk about Prod, people think it is over, they didn't know that the band has continued still TFOTL, it's not good for buisness, but it's good because it's not commercial band, like shit as some pop bands or rap bands.

AONO wasnt the last album by the prodge, Their Law was and the marketing for that was excellent , the whole DVD/CD packaging, website and poster campaign was everywhere because labels like XL have strong ties with independant shops, magazines and distributors built up over years. starting with a really small label is like starting again and unless some money is invested in it could turn out a poor product, it would be a big shame to see a drop in quality when compared to alot of the previous stuff

XL were a great label when they began their career, but since a couple of years they signed too many rock / indie artists than wss necessary. They had big success with The White Stripes, etc., It's no wonder that they lost the touch with older ventures, such as The Prodigy. This may explain the lack of promotion for AONO. But Liam made the logical step --> forward. Good one.

Basement Jaxx also started their own label, but still use XL for most major releases.

there's also the third side:

Liam is his own boss right now, so no deadline - no money, no album - no food.

hope he won't rush the things on the new album "just to release it"

won't you liam?

Fuck it, I'd still buy it :o

Got a lot of questions. What does this mean for their old tracks? Will they still be able to play old tracks live? Or release live cd's containing old tracks? Like Liam said they might include as a bonus with the next cd. Can they still remix their old tracks? Does this mean back 2 skool will diffently not be on the new album? One thing I know is they should get a lot of money for their new tunes appearing in movies, shows, commercals, and games now. Hope they own the rights to Warning.

back 2 skool won't be on the new album, liam could've released it on AONO if he wanted, it's old, from 1998ish, and it was released on their law, no need to release it again.

Liam seemed very enthousiast about his new label. It will allow him to give the music he believes in a chance and also gain total control on his proper releases.
I don't believe Liam is running this label singlehanded, imo he's more the concept- and art coördinator. I cannot see Liam wasting his time sorting out promotional- and distributional issues.

Really looking forward to see what he will pull off with this new approach.

At the end of the day it is the bands decision.

They feel like they are making the right decision and their loyal prodigy fans should be behind them all the way. Who knows what the future may bring.

More fucking great music and stellar live tours please. :)

WTH - No offence, but some of you are so negative these days, losing the faith in everything, never be grateful for the things you got, constantly moaning all over the place... It's makin me sick.
Sometimes i have the feeling, some of you want/wish The Prodigy to stop. :? :(
Hopefully, this day is far from now!

Don't get me wrong, critical opinions are fine, but not before something has happened...:blah:
The future remains unwritten, you know... :P

For me it's good news. I see it positive, as a fresh & new start. :D

BTW - Gettin married & have children is not the end of the world... :oldroll: And, may i remind, the reunion of All Saints ( not that i'm keen about this one  ) , so why the hell should The Prodigy stop!? Natalie is back in the business & Liam stays at home!? :oldblackeye: No way!!

Dear me, for christ's sake, we need more decent music nowadays!! :bringit:

So, what the fuck i know, it's just my personal opinion. :P

Yes they will still be able to play all their old tracks live.

As the writer, Liam (and Keith/Maxim for any tracks they wrote lyrics for) will still get paid royalties for any sales/radio play/media use/etc of any of the tracks released on XL Recordings. The publishing rights of most of The Prodigy tracks released on XL Recordings are owned by EMI Virgin music.

So does that mean if they were to release a live cd containing old tracks (like Liam said they might include as a bonus with the next cd) they'd have to get permission from EMI Virgin music?
