i would actually consider moving if the price was comparable. but it isnt. i can run 30 tracks of 24bit 48khz audio simultaneously with VSTs like nexus (a major fucking cpu hog) with not one glitch. why? cos i configured my system perfectly. its not that powerful, asus notebook, core duo 2 2.4g, 2gb ram + vista, lowest latency settings on my edirol fa-101. and i paid fuck all for it. the equivalent priced mac i would have to settle for a 13 inch fucking screen, and theres no way id be able to do the same.

so yes, ofcourse if your willing to throw a few thousand quid at a setup ull get that performance, but for everyday people its irrelevant. maybe one day ill be able to afford to experiment with different platforms. for 99% of the population its not a good option. dont give me that stability shit, if liams laptops can crash yours can crash doing your work just as well.

Run Ableton Live on a pc laptop in a club and see if it lasts the whole set without glitching...

Not worth the risk, hence Djs and Producers use Macs, not because of price looks or anything else but for the fact they are work horses and are far more stable

I know what Macs and Pc's are capable of as Ive used both professionaly for over 10 years, when you make a living from using a computer every day thats when you need one that wont freeze, suffer from virus's and perform under pressure

Thats what Macs are for.

Just a quote:

"1. If everything on a Mac just works, then why does a website called "Mac fix it" exist, assholes? Here are a few choice topics on macfixitforums.com:

-Login window stuck!
-lower caSe "S" key not working!!
-Menu bar keeps flashing
-I can't drag and drop!

Waaaah, boo hoo! I can't drag and drop! Dumbass. Looks like your Macs aren't perfect after all, which leads me to my second point:

2. Fuck you.

I don't know why Mac users get so defensive when you call them idiots. I mean, Apple is a company that has built its entire user base around the fact that its users can't do simple things like turn their computers on. Hell, most Mac users can't even talk without using their hands, which ranks their intelligence somewhere between a simian and hog shit:

Stupid user base aside, I will never own a Mac. It's not so much that I'm a PC loyalist. I'm not. It's that I'm not stylish enough to own one. Most iPod commercials feature guys with long hair, chicks roller skating, and guys wearing fedoras. I have dandruff, and I buy most of my jeans from a grocery store. I feel like in order to have a Mac, I need to be:

# An artist.
# In a band.
# Unemployed (see above). "

one of MANY links. the whole idea of one being better than the other with stability is moot.

the idea of it being able to do your job better, is up to the you in the end. and i think we can all agree nowadays theres so many hardware/software configurations, even with apples, its down to how you interact with it, configure it.

As for users in the industry, i remember hearing star wars last movie's CGI was rendered on an AMD opteron platform. pick whatever info you like from anywhere and an argument can be made, its always down to what works for you. if youve got 10 years experience 9 of them could have been you in your basement high on crack for all i know.

as for viruses, they dont bother me, i dont use an antivirus, ive only got one laptop and i do everythin with it. no crashes, i also leave it on 24 hours downloading, encoding, whatever and no problems. its not everyone having these issues with PCs

I could read pro/against links all day but the fact is I have used both OS's, Pc's in the early to late 90s then I switched over to Macs (before iMacs even came out!) because i was sick to death of defragging, having to install loads of drivers just to print something and constantly getting virus's on my machines.

I have never ever since switching had a problem with workflow on a mac, very rarely does it crash and every time i have sat on a Pc to do some work something has gone wrong, froze or it just cannot do what i want it to do.

I couldnt care less how much they cost, what they look like or the stigma attached to a product.. i just want something that works every day without fucking up and everytime i have used a pc for work it seems to have a problem

it makes me laugh that a discussion like this gets to you so much that you need to curse.. but seriously, get it together. we're talking about a product that you buy in a store, it is unlikely it will say anything about you personally now is it?

'mac users' dont get defensive when called idiots any more than microsoft users do. i dont think you can honestly be cursing on macs and say you're not being defensive yourself.

all mac users have experience with windows. windows is the OS that is everywhere and everone nows how to work with it. the contrary can be said for people currently using windows: most have not experienced macs.

and if you don't feel stylish enough to buy an ipod than it seems to me that you have problems of a more personal nature..

hardly credible something is a quote if you indeed forget to put the link.

and why would you quote something and not back up the content?
