At 1:38 (18:38 UTC) Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said a nurse called the hotel front desk, who in turn called security, who in turn called 911, and at 1:45 p.m. a bodyguard administered CPR before she was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital at 2:10 p.m and pronounced dead upon arrival at 2:49 p.m. Smith's boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, was with her when she died and has reported to Entertainment Tonight that her temperature was running high the night before

A tragic end to the Anna Nicole Smith story...

Anna Nicole Smith has died in a South Florida hospital after being discovered unconscious in her hotel room. She was 39.

"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Smith's attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. "I don't know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving."

Smith was rushed to the hospital after an operator at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida — where Smith was discovered unconscious — called 911 at 1:38 p.m. ET. Apparently Smith's personal nurse found her unconscious and then called the hotel operator.

No cause of death has been announced yet.

Smith, who gave birth to daughter Dannielynn on September 1 in the Bahamas, lost her 20-year-old son Daniel nine days after to a drug overdose.

Smith was perhaps best known for her marriage to 89-year-old billionaire J. Howard Marshall in 1994 when she was 26. After Marshall died 14 months later, Smith claimed she was promised half of his estate and spent years battling the courts for the money.

Just earlier this week, Smith was included in a class-action lawsuit against a company, TrimSpa, for which she had worked as a spokesperson. TrimSpa makes a product it claims leads to substantial weight loss. The lawsuit alleges the marketing of the product, TrimSpa X32, was false or misleading.

I really only know her since her appeareance in "Naked Gun 3" and some posters here in germany for a big Hennes & Mauritz commercial. They were very famous and often stolen here.

Then sometimes I heard about her personal problems in the newspapers, also in yellow press magazines. Her death shocked me... so Rest In Peace, Anna !

I´m not a fan but she was too young to die tragically !

It's a shame what the woman went through the last half year of her life.
