Graduated from uni earlier this year in music technology, I don't mean to blow me own trumpet or nothing but I do believe I have skills way above alot of other so called producers n that when it comes to music production/mixing. Trouble is, how the fuck can I get other people to realize this when there's so many people with Music Tech degrees.
Been on the dole for the past 6 months, been to loads of interviews n shit, still no luck. Fuckall jobs going where I live, now expanding searches to london, at least I've heard back from a few places. But yeah, I'm quite shy n reserved n they seem to judge me on that rather than fucking letting me prove I have the ability by showing them what I'm capable of in session files of shit I've done. Getting well frustrating, prime example was with Apple. I wanted to be involved in the Logic side of things with them, perhaps doing 1 on 1 demonstrations with logic (man I know the fuckin program inside out) but they ditched me before I even had the chance of showing them any examples of stuff I've done in Logic.

ANY SUGGESTIONS YOU LOT THINK I SHOULD DO?
(baring in mind I am ALSO looking for work outside of just music. ie Retail, admin work, even shitty manual labour work, anything I can get!). All I know is I need a fucking job desperately, getting so much grief off my parents at home, mainly cause they have financial problems of their own n cant really even afford me to live at home with them any more.

think of it like car mechanics...

theres 5 car mechanics, 3 of them are in practice and training and 1 of them is a qualified car mechanic and your a service technician

you get the highest pay because you've been promoted, but the workplace has to lay some people off work to stay in business, you'll be the first one to go because of the size of your paycheck and for what you do which could really be done by the 3 people in training

Join an job agency, it'll be in the yellow pages, or go down the job centre and ask about it there. Guarantee it'll be crap minimum wage stuff, but it's something to put on your CV. And you never know, it may lead onto something better pretty soon if you're not too particular what you do, even if it's not what your degree was all about.

Remember the old agage: if there's shit to be shovelled, go out and shovel shit. Anything is good right now in this current climate of joblessness, and if you're serious about getting a job you can't really afford to be too choosy, because someone else will be in exactly the same position as you and they will be prepared to do it.

At the very least you can then offer to contribute some money to your parents if they'll let you continue living at home.

Already signed up to 3 of the major job agencies in my town, NAG, JM Recruitment and Mainstream. Havent heard nothing from them since I registered, I do occasionally check their windows n websites to see if theres any manual labour/warehouse work going, but at the moment all they've really had is driving work, care work or other stuff I have no qualifications to do. Another thing that is against me is I don't really have any work experience, cept for Mac donalds a few years back. Out of all the jobs I've applied for over the past few months its always the music studios that seem to sound interested n ask me to attend interviews, but as I've said before they dont really give me chance to show them what I'm capable of by showing them work n that, they always seem to judge me on being quiet n a little uncomfortable in appearance.

I've offered money to my parents but in one breath they wont take any cause they know I don't get much from JSA but in the next breath theyre fuckin on my case moaning at me like fuck, mainly cause of the pressure theyre under with their council tax n rent debts

I'm in the online gambling - risk management department. It's a nice job cause I work with young people and the atmosphere is pretty good - we have full internet access, music and it's often like in a kindergarten lol

still I miss the summer of 2005 when I used to work at that surf store in Florida

I'm a full time student but I work a part time job as a sales assistant, been in that place for about 4 and a half years now. It's ok, the people I work with are alright and I pretty much run the back warehouse which is occasionally satifsying. I only work about 20 hours a week usually, it's pretty stressful at the moment with christmas and all comming up. It's not the largest shop and we're being inandadet with a shit load of stock that we don't need, so they look to me as some sort of fucking magician to make it all dissapear! Pricks.

I'm studying visual communication at college (a fancy name for graphic design) which is going to be tough to get a job in when I'm done. But I feel as if I have the edge over the majority of the other students and do have an incredible hunger to make it in the graphics industry. My cousin is one of the founders of 'The skinny' magazine (http://www.theskinny.co.uk/) and he's got me a placement in the summer with the design house who do their magazine, it will look good on the C.V. Going to look for another placement after that + I have a placement for 3 weeks in India either at the end of 2010 or the beggining of 2011! Hopefully this all adds up so I can get my foot on the ladder.

I work in an office, been there just over 2 years now. Mainly as a phone agent (it sucks bigtime) but sometimes I'm off the phones doing investigations which is a bit better (but still gets boring as fuck). How much longer I'll be there I don't know, a lot of managers got made redundant a few months back and many people left. Also some of it is outsourced to India, and there's another company looking to buy it so who knows what's gonna happen. It pays for now at least...

I have a huge talent for getting jobs and then NOT keeping them (I quit everything after a week or so)
I officially still work in the piercing studio, even though I haven't been there for over a month or even 2, my most recent job is McDonalds, only worked twice yet, but I think I'm lovin it  Srsly, WONDERFUL co-workers, loooots of fun 8-)
But in December there is a chance to start working as a stevardess and I'm definitely gonna try... 11€/h sounds fanfuckingtastic
