On rotten tomatoes avatar is now 84% and Star Trek 09 is 94% in comparison and I must say i liked star trek a lot more. I love sci-fi but avatar was too predictable and had too many cliches. It was cute in a romantic way tho.

Yea I think it was just a little bit dissapointing. The story was just too obvious and the film tended to drag on at parts. The special effects were fucking awesome though there's no denying that. In comparison to star trek, I prefered that, but you could say I'm a bit biased! I love the origional star trek series

Im not a "trekie" or anything, but the star trek movie was cool. I guess one could get more out of it you know the star trek universe n stuff, but wasnt necessary for me to enjoy it anyways. Avatar without the 3D glasses would be shite i suppose.

Lol, I love how everyone was slagging off this film before it came out and now it's out, it's epic. Thought the visual quality was absolutely amazing, the Na'vi look real and I didn't think they looked stupid like some do, I thought they looked good and believable.

yeah i really thought it would be shit when i first heard of it, i honestly did.
the only reason i went to see it at the movies was because my girlfriend wanted to go see that or paranormal activity, and any movie thats paranormal is usually really shit in my opinion because it all looks like fictional bullshit.
i was really surprised, i was rather hooked to it, i needed a piss 3 quarters of the way in but i never bothered with going because i wanted to know what was going to happen, i know it looks like the story is just copy and paste shit but i enjoyed the story as well as the stunning 3D graphics, but i'd not buy it for bluray though, but thats because i dont see the point in owning a movie i've already seen unless its in my head that its an amazing film and only a few films are in that list for me.
all in all, if your going to the movies, theres fuck all else that looks decent in there at the moment, i was totally wrong in thinking it would be a load of shit, i'm usually right with those things because i have very specific likings to movies now a days.
so go see it in 3D for the best viewing pleasure
