Aside from my opinion I think it's safe to say this movie is/was ahead of its time. You have to know what it meant at that time... Sure it would get a 3/10 if it came out in the last 15 years. It's at least worth a 8/10, don't forget it was released in 1971. Beautiful movie, still up-to-date in many aspects. It (still) has the same impact as Halloween 1 had... both classics in their own way (on many levels). Maybe too abstract for the average moviefan, but that's their problem.

Listen, age does not work as an excouse for a bad film.

well i'm 18 and its one of my favourite films, the first time i watched it i did think it was something from the 80's.

I agree. One more thing: It seems to me like there is a unwritten rule that you have to like this movie. If you dont, then you are to stupid or to simple to understand a good movie like that.. Thats just retarded.

Clockwork Orange is not that deep and smart anyway.

To me, it seems like the screen play was written by a 13 year old addressing it to the audience of age of 5, not even mentioning acting skills of almost everyone involved - way beneath criticism. Seriously, is this a joke or something?

Yes I meant screenplay. I know what I'm talking about and I know there is also a book. It's so funny cuz everyone treats you as you are fuckin stupid if you offend a famous movie like that.

I believe a book could be good (because stories in books are usually longer, more complex with more twists etc.).
But we're not discussing a book here. Screenplay is just awfully stupid. I guess you need more intelect to understand teletubbies, than to understand this movie ... Rly it feels like it's made for retards, with that: What goes around comes around lesson and a happy ending .. Come on wtf.

Just give it a break with Clockwork..it's a classic , most people agree with that, if you didn't enjoy it just leave it at that and move on (nobody is willing to explain to you why you should like it).

on another note I just watched this: Synecdoche, New York (2008) and this movie seems to enter every top 10 of the '00's as a great movie (it's kinda shit for me).

Chavah go watch 2001 : A Space Odyssey (1968) and then tell me it's a bad movie because of it's age.

I'm not going to watch that cuz I don't like Sci-fi, no matter new or old.
I believe these films were revolutionary back then due to novelties used in formation but nowerdays they just aren't interesting anymore because the technology has moved on and what remains is just the screenplay and if it's no good, the whole film no longer makes an impression. Unlike Godfather, One flew over the cockoo's nest, My fair lady and many more of the same age that will always be topical.
