Stuie stay strong mate, you can handle it.
People that aren't smokers don't understand this issue. every year, in the past three years at this time of the year i try to quit, result? none, i quit quiting in several hours if im pissed or sad. i can manage it when im ok, but the low moments are the worst, that shit helps me out to get through things.
Back in 2007 i managed to quit smoking, drinking and eating shit food (no butter, no fried shit, only vegetables, fruit, rice and that kind of healthy stuff) for almost five months, lost around 20 kgs. need to do that shit again.
i look back and i been smoking daily since September 2001, its been to long.
trying to quit again last Friday, but couldn't handle it again, need to choose a better season to do it.
the price of tobacco here is 2.30€ (Chesterfield brand) which isn't a lot compared to other countries and not a real motive to quit (ok, minimum wage in Portugal is around 450€, depends of how much you earn).
So kids, when people tell you not to smoke, obey (sure try it out, but as soon as you smoke your tenth smoke don't touch that shit again), its addicted as fuck (i can only imagine what crystal and heroin can do), no use for it, just wasted money health. be cool not smoking.
as i end up writing this im going back for a smoke, woke up and im fucked up.

Thanks for all the advice ppl, some of it is really good and helpful. Its day 2 now and i have to say its been easier than i expected. The cravings are still there but i've got enough will power to stop.
I'm just coming out of a bad head cold and my throat has been sore so smoking on top of that would have made it worse.
And as for taking medication to help me quit, i suppose it doesn't do any harm when i work in basically a giant chemist and take anything i want

Don't smoke crack Stuie, that was just a joke.
The first week is the worst so it is probably better you have been ill anyway, get all the phlegm shit up.
After that it's just about finding something to do with your hands/mouth when the craving starts.
Sucking a sweet usually helps, I should know, I've given up at least twenty times.

Just stop smoking. Dont make a big deal out of it.. Then you sure will fail. Many people give up heroin and other more heavy drugs. Then you should have no problem stop smoking.
Do it!

well i was able to stop smoking for about a year, before i was on bk i was able to quit because i wasn't around anyone who smoked and so temptations were put away, though when i came back to my own home in 2007 my big brother passed me a joint and i was hooked again.
i'm still hooked now, i'm ok with the smoking but maybe this little bit of advice could help, find different activities to do instead of smoking, this is what helped me the most like going to the gym and playing football and cooking etc etc.
at the time will power wasn't needed i felt, it was pretty simple to quit because i was doing other things, i went down to 10 smokes a day and then eventually just never bothered going back to the shop.
though maybe thats shit advice as now i'm still smoking but good luck to you stuie.

I'm going to try and quit again if I can this year.
Tried 4 times last year and prolly lasted around 3 weeks at max just before Christmas. But the Festive period I smoked shit loads haha.
So this year I must try and stop for Aimee-Leigh. Been smoking for since I was 15 I'm now 20 and starting to feel it on my chest.
Oh yeah and My partner and I are thinking having some kids (well past the thinking and talking stages at least lmao)
My advice though is dont be too hard on yourself if you do have one and give in to the cravings, cause you'll only lower your confidence in succeding.
Erika : How long you been smoking for ?

Fuck bad habits, cause they're actually addictions (caffeine, smoking, gambling, cocaine, television, etc.). If your addiction is stronger than your will, you'd better spend a bit more time on being rational than staying on the wrong path (with a dead end to look forward to).
Let's see what we see when we open up aan average person that smokes (you know, the nasty people with obvious terrible taste ) :
Yes, it's obviously very disgusting and repulsive.
Bonus:
If you smokers think it's ok to smoke, what do you think of this then:

Quick update with me. Day 5 and i feel great. I'm more determined than ever to quit and I'm taking it each day at time. I'm getting really put off the idea of smoking again. The thoughts of going out to the cold to have one is just ridiculous.
Gimme a few more weeks of this and i know i'll have given this up for good!
Edit: Just seen the post above now. Lovely stuff
