let me explain to the dicks out there who r apparently confused about what i do live. i got two apple mac laptops running ableton bak to bak. with ableton u can trigger audio in any way at any time.the carcuss of the tunes run from the laptops with maybe some of the keyboard parts -samples missing that i play live.most guitars r taken off and rob plays them.ableton is basically about triggering parts of the songs and thats why the set is different everytime. there is no bakup but the chance of both computers goin down is slim.whoever that tit was who said it was a cd with shouting over is a prick and i find that insulting. bye bye
"
hahah, it was simply "powermacs" not "apple mac macbooks" dont think liam would say "apple" out loud

Been wondering what is it what Liam does when he's tapping one of his synths.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh1_csBOlDo

Here 0:43 he triggers clearly the bassline and then just stands around until from 1:15 his left hand twists a knob or something and right hand presses the highest key on the keyboard. He does this often for example when playing Omen he taps this synth all the time. There's still no sounds coming from it while this tapping is on so what is the purpose? He sure plays extra notes once in a while from the same synth I guess but on this tapping thing there isnt any extra sounds.

Does he by the way use many of those keyboards because he seems to spend the most of the time on this one? :lol:

I dont think you really understand what his set up is... the knobs and synths are midi'd up to play parts of samples or segments in Ableton... not an actual sound as such like pressing a keyboard and a note appearing

A lot of his tracks are already layered and Abletons sound engine ensures everything is in sync so if you know which bit is which its easy to play

He often plays kick drum samples from his controllers/samplers during the songs. I think he does that to add more punch on live shows.
Subwoofers = pumped up
People = crazy! :wink:

Yeah that I know. Seen some videos of him putting on some extra kick, not very recent ones but from example FOTL era lives and around '05.

At 0:43 it looks more like he's taking his hand off the keyboard and putting his hands in the air, not triggering the bassline. You can't see any pressing at all at that point, so it just can't be.

Also, he has tonnes of equipment on that stage that he just doesn't seem to use, it's crazy. The tapping doesn't make any sound at all.

I remember at a gig I went to, seeing him turn one of the nobs to make the 'Vamp' sample in World's On Fire louder.. Other than that I didn't seem him do anything apart from press play.

"hey hey, wait a minute, the track starts with the live guitar, and you can clearly hear that! he gives rob the signal to start, that's it! yeah we all know that big electronic artists dont play live, cuz if they would, that would be a mess! plus u can't play electronic music live."

MEGA LOL went to a LAURENT GARNIER concert december 2009, this man is a real orchestra.
Sure he is not alone on stage but et does all live, no one of his tracks are the same in an other party, but i mean really different

In our case, Firestarte, voodoo, Breathe, out of space, fuck FULL SET is playback.
Even omen reprise is playback, same fuckin time as the album version (or just a bit edited), this part is maybe the only fuckin part he can do live with so less key to hit but fuck no he even dont do this !
Liam if u read this, i ask u to play omen reprise really live in Paris 18.04.2010. only keyboard, a sort of unplugged.

Rob does it live, everyone knows, drummer also, we are not dumb but hell, Liam can do more melody live
I don't ask him to play the whole track, it's impossible alone but if he has balls and talent he can play melodies, even tweaked and not 100% same as the original.

As i've said in an other post, Faithless plays averything live, depeche mode too (and it's electronic music) VITALIC (ear live 2007)

So LIAM WAKE THE FUCK UP !

Nah but for real. Respect to The Prodigy anyway. The music is outstanding, and the live show is awesome. But the thing is, most people are dancing or jumping their fuckin ass off so much they don't even notice what Liam is doing. All they see is him moving around behind those laptop screen and keyboards and assume he's doing something.

Some people, like me, actually care about the performance. Keith and Maxim do their performance; dancing and MCing but that's all they really can do; they do it well. Rob and Leo perform their instruments very well too and give a performance with it. And I would LOVE to see Liam actually play his instruments.

Even if it's just the melody over the rest of the song, or a riff, or the samples over the rest of the song, at least he would be playing something IN TIME and adding to the show other than by pressing play and messing with how loud different parts of the tracks are.

I can only hope Liam reads through this thread hahaha

I can't for instance understand why Liam doesn't play omen's melody live.

Daft Punk did that in 2007, but in Homework era (1997), they played live with machines like TR-909/808 & Roland Juno 106.
