I can listen to 7 of the tracks, I have to skip 7 as they bore me or it sounds like ive heard them before, but out of the 7 theres like 4 I think are pretty good, so i'd give the album in generous 5/10. The intro is amazing though, makes the album sound like its going to turn into something promising then Salt In The Wounds kicks in and its like "oh, this again". Shame.

Went to see them last night at Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Wasn't too bad! A lot of the new songs were just absolutely chronic for me. In particular, they played The Island part 1. The MC was like "imagine yourself on a sunny beach, blah blah" Then the song kicks in like some kind of clubland anthem. That isn't Pendulum for me! That was a very shit moment!

The old classics were just so much better, Voodoo remix, blood sugar, tarantula, were the highlights for me! Watercolour wasn't too bad live as was Immunize! Overall it was a pretty decent night but on too many occasions I was left feeling almost embarrassed to be there! Towards the end I was directly at the front and there was a kid behind me who must have been 12 at the oldest. That just summed the night up for me.

Overall I got what I expected, I gave the new material a chance but I just wasn't feeling it at all for the most part! 6/10

I have a couple of problems with their live shows:

Aside from the MC (who's a bit of a tube for a start) none of the band connect with the crowd that much, especially Swire. He just stands there like someone who's never been on stage before. Don't get me started on that stupid guitar hero thing he uses. Despite all that a lot of the songs stand up well live, but in my opinion the live act itself could be much improved!

+1

as i commented about swires strangely static kung fu stance on stage

''hes so lame gravity is running away from him''

they suck live, it doesnt matter how many people they get on stage, or how 'live' the sound is, if you cant connect with the crowd get the fuck off the stage.

Haha, very true, was watchin their big weekend gig on the tele last night, very boring imo, some of the new stuff aint so bad but theyre hardly treading new ground, just very same old-same old.

Was also watching the Rob Swire future music in the studio video last night too (you can download it here if anyones curious... http://depositfiles.com/files/daat9fvc9). Swire's definitely got some good production skills n knows what he's doin (or at least he used to), but I get the impression he really doesn't like to share much of his methods, especially in that vid. No matter how much the interviewer tries to get Swire to give away some of his production techniques, he always seems to just avoid the questions with one word answers, "errr... yeah".

yea exactly man, I mean listen to propane nightmares or granite and tell me they couldn't have come straight from Immersion.

That just doesn't cut it for me, very little progression.

That doesn't appear to be a live performance at all at R1 BWE in the vid. Rob's vocals are obviously autotuned, and at both 2:48 and 4:29 he's not opening his mouth. And Verse aside, it sounds EXACTLY like the CD version. Could this be a TOTP style playback?

In which case I have even less respect for them than before.

Oh, and:

I completely don't get Glee. If it was all the original songs, yeah okay...but why are people buying an album of lesser versions by retards?

guys it's really funny how you don't like and don't care about Pendulum and at the same time there are 2 threads (more than 20 pages each) where you dissing the band and it's strange how you know so many details about that same band....If I hate an artist or a band I just ignore them and not checking their tweeter and stuff

I agree that the album is nothing special - all their stuff is nothing special if you ask me but still I like some of the tracks and I believe that they have the potential..they just don't use it - if they get rid of their rock singer and the synth they use in almost every track they would sound way better..

without those cheesy synth melodies tunes like Salt In The Wounds, Set Me On Fire, Immunize, The Island (part 2), Comprachicos, The Vulture would sound pretty good..also the last tune Encoder - after 2:45 it sounds fucking awesome!

My point here is that by dissing Pendulum you're not showing how "cool" you are..you're not even showing your respect to The Prodigy...Pendulum are not Prodigy competition and they'll never be..they just cannot reach their level and they know that..and both bands are okay with it - that's why Liam worked with them..Just enjoy the music - if you like good if not...good....but somehow you leave the impression that you really care about Pendulum and what they do..otherwise you wouldn't write so many posts
