It's a folded strip of paper that runs down the left spine edge of the case with Japanese writing including information such as title and other information such as price. If a Japanese release doesn't have one it's generally not considered 'complete'.

my Selected Mixes copy was new and complete, but the Obi had turned gray on the side due to light exposition (I guess)
does that make it 3/4 complete? haha
