Yeah sorry to hear that sometimes people forget when you just need someone to talk to and not get lectured at. The thing with the driving tests in the US is every state handles it differently. Honestly I did probable have it a lot easier then you'll. I didn't get mine until I was 18 though. In 10th grade you take a drivers ed class with a interactive film from the 70's lol. After that you get to drive around with the teacher for a month. Then you take a test at the DMV. Because I waited until I was 18 and I past the instructors class and the DMV computer test. I didn't even have to do another driving test at the DMV.

I had to drive around for over a year before getting it done ... :?
Well, true it can be faster if you take driving lessons every day ... but of course you don't. I think minimum time for gaining license here is about 3 months ...

I'm packing my bags! 8-)

Having a harder test is probably a good thing tho. Seeing first hand the amount of unbelievably shit drivers here, I would gladly welcome a harder test. Hell I wish old people had to retest every 5 years.

I wanted to learn to drive ASAP because I get motion sickness unless I'm driving the car. I would drive my moms car around the neighborhood super slow and then driving school and passed all the road tests/drive times we had to do. Aced my test @ the DMV and got a license. I'm a good driver.

what do you mean at the DMV? Your test doesn't require you to drive around real streets?

I failed my test twice before I passed, but they fail you for what seems like the slightest thing here. First one I think I failed because I drove too close to parked cars on three separate occasions. Second time was because I hesitated when coming out of a junction a little and the car behind me had to slow down (not like an abrupt stop, only slow down by like 5 or 10 mph). Passed in the end though, expensive as it is :/. Paying the same fee every time you have to re-sit your test is complete bullshit in my opinion

:iagree:
I spent no kidding £142 - Just to Fail! And they are putting the prices up on the practical test in August, or so my instructor told me.
I didn't realize I had to pay my instructor just to sit there for 40 mins and drive me home! I was charged £72 just for him to come.
It is the slightest thing... though that does seem silly you failed cause you was hesitant and let the guy behind slow down - I would of complained if that happened unless I had more than 2 minors for being hesitant lol.

I had a road test, just not @ the DMV. I was exempted from the road test @ the DMV because I had taken and passed driving school which required it's own road tests. The driving schools road test equaled about 10 road tests in which any infraction (running a light/sign, failing to yield, not using turn signals, hitting a curb etc) was an insta-fail. Wasn't easy but I passed them all.

Wow they charge you'll just to take the test. Sounds like their failing you'll just to get more money. Yeah I guess I was exempt from the driving test too because of driving around for however long it was. It could of be 3 months or one I honestly don't remember now since its be over 11 years lol. I just had to pass the test on the computer at the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles it's where you have to go to get your licenses in the US).

When are you coming to the US? Thankfully I passed everything 1st try which saved me lots of money. My sister failed driving school and somehow passed the DMV tests and she's a terrible driver.
