a compressor is an effect that raises the volume but "Compresses" it if it gets too loud to stop it distorting.

well thats what i use one for, its probably not the best technical explanation but if you just look around your programs for a compressor, if theres none then it might have one built in, just turn your volume down during recording then if you use another program to tranfer to mp3, amplify the song and you'll raise the volume without compressor problems. if you still don't get me just wait till somone who can explain it better posts.

infact i'll post something up i'm working on at the moment, without one and then with one.

just give me 10 mins

at 4:31 is to much going on- you can hear it clearly there. To much threshold and agressive timings. Just lose a bit with the volume and it should be perfect! And you could (not a must, it is your track after all) close the tune with a nice long fade out.

doesn't mean its a bad thing, just a mastering error :) the song is nice.

Code:
No Compressor

Code:
With Compressor
http://www.zshare.net/audio/824457741a54791b/

use those two to understand what a Compressor is :)

EDIT: oooh sorry i get you now, well i think theres just a bit too much of compression, the kick drum doesn't seem to express itself enough, its too low compared to the rest of the track, which may be the compressors fault.
