as we like the prodigy we are intended to BELIEVE that if they say they are in the studio that means they are
1) really there
2) really working and not just fucking around
3) really mean it
after believing this, theres still something to consider. maybe the worst thing is that they dont really test their "works" live. remember fatland for instance? most of the tracks were played in 95 already and got developed through the years.
in aono era they started gigs only AFTER the album released, and when was the "real" beginning of imd tour? 08 december i guess? but allright, allright, let's say 08 may cause they played wd then first. and the album came in february 09 already. so maybe what bothers people (and me too) is that they dont show us anything until its fully ready which means we dont have any option to react to the tracks and perhaps help them develop, we just get the stuff right in our faces like THIS IS IT (molotov coctail)
now dont take it as "sure", i was only speculating in order to get some replies of what others think.

God damned you're so right! I haven't think of this until now. The audience can really help Liam to decide if the tune or sample is good. Now I remembered a video from The Phoenix Festival from 1996 where Liam played the Release yo'def sample trough poison and he first play it a little quietly but when he herd the people scream he turn it up... One of my most favourite moments :):)

Liam used 2 like 2 try new tracks live... I remember in some interview he said that but that could be long time ago so maybe now that could change

I think he got turned off trying stuff out live because I believe he DOES frequent the forums... Or... well he at least used to.

I remember he said in a Neko interview (from sometime in 2002-2004) that it would kind of be disheartening to read people's comments complaining after someone had shared a low quality live recording of something he was messing around with.

now i would say people still want heatwave hurricane madly thanks to that low quality recording. now i would say "the letter to band" we bkers decided to send them in which we mentioned that "most of your unreleased tracks we can only listen in low quality but we like them so much we wish for a studio release"????????

:?:

maybe its disheartening to hear SOME ppl complaining about a LOW quality recording, but
1) how disheartening is to hear that ppl complaing about NOT getting new stuffs and NOT getting old stuffs in studio quality?
2) how disheartening is it that you never ever had a chance to listen to proper versions of...... (list is endless, say brown, trigger, the "firestarter alpha version" and so on and so on)

there are a lot of disheartening stuffs allright, but i dont believe ANYONE who would hear a new track tested live would complain. i mean i cant imagine a review like:

"jesus, i waited for thunder after poison and what came was some new shit, why did they do that? i hate not to get my expectations satisfied."

you know what i mean
no occassion i mentioned poison. remember how hyped ppl were when hearing that bad ass new fill after poison first at t in the part 2010 recording?

I remember he said this, but everyone got totally hyped about "Warriors dance" by raggametalpunk on youtube. I love it much more than what was on the album in the end, so my hype even surpassed what was to come. But i can see how it would be dull to release something that people had listened to live recordings of during the last 2 years. Thats the influence of the internet. Maybe if he did shorter iterations, like EPs?

would be better than buying mfjtg just because its remastered. you paid for that album already once, why you need to pay it again just to get a 2nd disc when that could have been released seperately too? cause of money? if thats so we would rush the shops for eps with unreleased tracks.

I think LH loves the Album format too much to release ep's. I hope the next album flows more like TFOTL and tracks bleed into each other more, I think thats as much as you can hope for the ep dream is a lost cause if you ask me.

its 2011 now and there is a big difference between the cameras now and 10 years ago! the low quality live recordings are part of the history

Yes its true that cameras are better. But I was bringing up the reason (according to LH at 'that' time) why he was more hesitant to play or test new material before it was released officially.

Who know's if theres another reason now. Maybe he still is against the idea of people ripping apart "works in progress" before he's finished with them. Maybe he doesn't care now about that at all.

But like I just said.. Who knows?

Hopefully one day Neko or someone else will eventually ask him. Instead of the usual shit that gets asked in interviews.

Lost Beats EP ...

I know what you mean though, between albums, not as a deluxe album bundle, but it's a recent EP and I love it!...

I dunno why but IMD still seems quite fresh to me, I mean it doesn't seem like over 2 years ago it came out. It was finished in 2008 too, but the record company needed more time and waited until 2009 to release it so I guess it's getting on a bit now, but it seems like almost yesterday it came out. As I'm getting older I'm starting to understand why albums often take so long. It's because time genuinely seems to go by faster when you get older, well it does for me. In the old days a couple of years would seem like forever to me and now they’re gone in a flash. It's probably even quicker for Prodigy now too as they'll always be that much older. New album will rock though whenever it drops...

yeah but it was not a stand alone ep and really i think he just threw those together to shut everyone up...whats up with all the tracks with no vocals...granted they are not complex lyrics when done live as comanche or mescaline for example but too me it feels like he had the insturmental tracks and they didnt bother to record vocals so they released those to appease the masses

yeah, gutted we only got the instrumental for Warning since it feels like its lacking something without vocals... same thing with Mescaline.

maybe Liam is just a lazy basterd by nature
