Quote: At least 80 people died when a gunman opened fire at a Norwegian island youth camp, police say, hours after a deadly bomb attack in Oslo
Fucking unbelievable.

sad day. Really reminiscent of the '95 Oklahoma City bombing of the Murrah building here.. the bombing itself, at least. Less casualities in Norway; but the way the murders were carried out.. absolutely gruesome.
What scares me watching this what is to come- not "theres going to be more attacks" but, "what is the govt. gonna do"? The OKC bombing brought some pretty draconian laws down on the american people, the beginning to the police state that was brought in full force after 9/11 and the subsequent passing of the Patriot Act. England saw things change for the worse after 7/7. The government takes away peoples rights to give them 'safety'.
Part of living in a free society means that these sort of things can happen.
Norway is a country I have always wanted to visit, my ancestors were still living there just over 100 years ago, great-grampa was first to move to the US. Seems like a country where trust still exists. Peaceful, high standard of living, generosity and a lack of crime.
Lassa, I say let him talk. We silence the 'terrorists' at guantonomo bay involved in 9/11 and put them through secret military court hearings, when under our constitution they should have the rights of a human being, because they are one, no matter how 'evil' they are. We can learn from what they tell us. That can be used to prevent further attacks.
Bit of a rant- all Im getting at, is that I hope this dosent become a massive political issue, and that Norways govt. dosent ram through laws that restrict the freedoms you have there. I have alot of faith in your country.
Theres also some oddities in what happened...
Id go further into this, but Ill be labeled some sort of conspiracy nut. :/

Absolutely sick...My thoughts are with everyone who knew and lost somebody.
I think it is important now to continue as before. One mental idiot should not be enough to break our country, our morale, our democracy or our freedom.
I'm glad we don't have death sentence here in Norway, so that the idiot can sit and rot!

He's can expect like 30 years in prison, and some mental help... that's barely 6 months for each death. That is just... insanely low punishment, and probably worth it for him. He'll be able to walk and have years left to spend influencing other people. He should be sitting on his ass in a prison for the rest of his life. Once out, someone is going to kill him. Definitely.
