Like in topic. Anyone seen it yet? i wish to go to the cinema next week. First polish reviews telling me its good. Its something like tribute to spielberg movies. Unfortunetly people who had been already in cinema told me the movie is bad. So whats your opinion? have u watch it already?

It's coming out in Holland in August.
I hate this country sometimes.
I don't believe other people's shit either about this movie.
This movies certainly looks like a hommage to E.T and
Spielberg's other stuff like The Goonies.
That type of stuff.
Can't wait !

I will see it before you so you can count on my opinion later. The thing i know is that when you watch it you have feeling the movie is spielberg made. J.J. Abrams didnt fail me before either so i have good hopes. The one thing that worries me is the movie have similiar feeling like ET, so its bad, because from trailer it looks like some good sci-fi alien invading movie. Those two things cannot be in one movie, because ET was for children.

i won't spoil you but i read the synopsis on wikipedia and the reviews and it seems the children and their relation with their parents and friends are at the core of the movie.the monster will only be shown at the end briefly.think lost and you get the ballance between sci-fi and character story

E.T. was just for kids? Um... no. And it's a bad thing that Super 8 looks like a Spielberg classic from the director's golden era?

Goonies was Richard Donners movie, Spielberg was just a producer, like in the Super8 case. And its good that the movie has the Spielberg feeling, i'm just afraid that this will be some childish movie, not the alien-based sci-fi thriller. Soon i'll see for myself

I know that very well but Spielberg's influence to Goonies as it's producer is clearly there on the screen. There are producers and then are producers like Spielberg. It simply would not have been the movie it was without Spielberg's involvement. And it is a Spielberg movie through and through. It was his project and it was he who picked Donner to direct it. No disrespect to Donner though. He made a good job as the director for hire he was in this case. Super 8 aims to be the kind of family entertainment that Spielberg used to make in the late seventies to eighties. It's JJ's homage to Spielberg and his movies that JJ grew up watching.

Super 8 was ok, but a bit stupid in some ways. Definetely not a GOOD movie to me.

i downloaded it and watched it the other day.
it was raining and i wanted to mong out for a couple of hours to have a break from an insanely intensive 2 week course i'm doing at the moment.
it was just what i needed for that mood, but i wouldn't go to the cinema to watch it!
it's a family film, so enjoy it for what it is.
