Actually the link I posted had everything to do with the topic. It was a site that was describing the PS3 launch and the truth behind it with photos and actually in stock numbers backing it up. There was no reason to delete the link I posted. Not to start an argument but did you even bother to read the site? All I'm doing is trying to present facts the do indeed relate to the topic at hand.

With your permission I'd like to put the link back up.

According to market and biz experts PS3 has actually been selling well in Europe so far and I do trust their word more than some shady website's shady reports.

The actual facts from Gameindustry.biz:

"PS3 is the fastest-selling home console ever, with figures in its first weekend which are almost equal to Xbox 360 and Wii's first weekend figures combined."

"We've seen some frankly shameful attempts to discredit Chart-Track's figures for the launch in the last week, occasionally from people who should really know better. It's perhaps worth reiterating that Chart-Track is an independent body which bases it's fantastically reliable sales figures on sell-through to consumers alone - not on shipped units, not on pre-orders, but on provable, solid, over the counter sales.

The UK industry has relied on Chart-Track's figures for years, and has never found grounds for serious complaint about their accuracy. If they say 165,000 units of the PS3 sold through across the retailers which they cover, there's absolutely no reason for anyone do disbelieve that."

Either way it has been the buzz all over the place. People seem to want one or have got one, or in some cases can't get one due to shortages. The gaming industry is becoming as shady as the music industry now. All sides are trying to stay alive in their self created wars, if only they realised that trying to put the competition out of business isn't going to make people want to buy their product. That goes for every console and platform. I know I haven't found myself thinking.. well.. if so and so puts them out of business I guess I'll have to buy their console so I can continue playing games. For me it's just, if they put my prefered console out of business then I'm not going to play anything new until I see something I'm interested in.

I'll use Wii for my example.. I don't have anything against Wii as I said this is just an example, but in theory if they put Sony or Microsoft's systems out of the gaming business, I'm not going to go buy a Wii because it's the leader of systems and the winner of a battle. If I don't like it, I'm not going to buy it.

Good link. Finally something I can actually somewhat believe. I still question it though as I haven't seen any actual detailed numbers or break downs. What's Europe's version of the US's NPD? With the NPD it has a complete breakdown of consoles sold along with games and all that with spot on numbers, not rounded numbers like the Chart Track thing gives.

Don't know about other services but Chart-Track for example is not free of charge. You need to pay to get more detailed numbers than those published in the media. But imho 165.000 is an accurate enough number and more easy to remember than say 164.987..

That was to be expected. Most of the people buying PS3 will wait from several months to a year or more before making the purchase. Same thing happened with PS2.
