Man, this reviews seem so different from eachother. Either the movie is bad, either is a masterpiece. No space in between

Watched it, not really what I expected at all. The effects were somewhat "strange", especially on space jockeys. Otherwise perfect performance of Fassbender as the Dadid-android, he was good.

Epic, intelligent, visually stunning sci-fi with a disturbingly bleak vision of our origins. Prometheus is the first Alien and 2001: The Space Odyssey combined yet it's really like neither of those two movies. It is it's own beast. So much so that for most Alien fans it will require at least two viewings to really get in terms with this new part of the Alien universe. This is because it's impossible to forget Alien before seeing this for the first time which is what you really should do because Prometheus is like I said a very different beast. It is not a direct prequel to Alien. Like Ridley has said the whole time, the movies only share the same DNA... So whatever your expectations are of the movie going in they're going to be off, most likely way off. I saw it in 2D first and it looked beautiful. Going to check the 3D version on my second viewing.

PS: Ridley said on BBC that put on a timeline the original Alien is two more movies away from Prometheus. So Prometheus is really the beginning of it's own trilogy. And this first part has no direct connection whatsoever to the first Alien. And again I repeat, Prometheus is nothing like Alien.

Glad to see you enjoyed it. I read mostly die hard fanboy reviews in tha last days and they all complain about the most insignificant things.

Hey spitfire where are you from?

I read a little review online (by a music producer i like) that said that "Prometheus is just good looking rubbish... a good example of everything that's wrong with filmmaking in 2012 and if we dont agree we are part of the problem..."

yeah right

I'll see it on the 7th... here's hoping i disagree with that view!

That's because there's no way anyone's going to get the experience they're expecting going in. Ridley's Alien like it's (next two) sequels are pretty straightforward stories. The monster(s) against the underdog hero(ine) everyone's rooting for and that's basically it. This is of course the kind of experience what every fan of the series is waiting for, knowingly or unknowingly. It's what we're used to with the series. With Prometheus things aren't that simple however. In that the movie is closer to 2001 than Alien. That is why I think that every Alien fan needs to see it at least twice to be able to be free of expecting a similar experience and thus be able to absorb Prometheus in it's entirety. It is such a different experience, despite of all the familiar elements. I doubt that any Alien fan can form a definitive opinion about the movie after seeing it once. It's impossible. And to half answer your question, I'm from the E of U.

Do not click on this link, unless you want to know a (minor) spoiler of the film:

Spitfire, what did you think of that particular moment in the movie?

Minor? That's a massive spoiler! And as such I won't be commenting it, yet.

Do not click that link if you haven't seen the movie!

It's from a cam rip, yes.. but i only found the gif at the avpgalaxy forum.

The film itself is probably already on Piratebay... but i'm gonna see it in theaters so i'll be patient.
