It's biomehanic, it comes out only for final attack, just like jaws from alien mouth. :D

Trivia: What Did David Say to the Engineer in 'Prometheus'?
20 June 2012

Image

On the grand list of Big Questions left by Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, one item that probably falls somewhere down in the lower third is “what the hell did David say to the Engineer?”

Well, we can’t tell you specifically what the black goo is, or what it has to do with the green goo, or what the sea monkey in Holloway’s eye was all about, but we can answer that burning lower third mystery. (And a burning lower third mystery sounds like something you should really get checked out.)

Here’s how this works: the ancient language being studied by David (Michael Fassbender) is actually Proto-Indo-European (PIE), and the man giving him a hologram lesson is played by Dr. Anil Biltoo of the SOAS Language Centre in London. Dr. Biltoo is also the language consultant for the film, and he has provided a translation of David’s dialogue from his meeting with the Engineer.

The Bioscopist tracked down Dr. Biltoo, who explained that the line we hear spoken by David is really just the opening to a longer conversation between David and the Engineer, which was cut from the final film.

Here’s the line that David speaks to the Engineer, and the consultant’s translation of it:

“/ida hmanəm aɪ kja namṛtuh zdɛ:taha/…/ghʷɪvah-pjorn-ɪttham sas da:tṛ kredah/”

A serviceable translation into English is:

"This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life."

Not much of a revelation, I know. That’s text we might have guessed. But every little detail is valuable in making up the overall picture. There’s a bit more detail and discussion here.

Dr. Biltoo was also evidently complimentary about Fassbender’s effort to learn the full PIE text of Schleicher’s Fable, a work composed in 1868 as PIE was being reconstructed by linguists. A bit of the fable is heard in the film early on, but most of Fassbender’s recital was cut. More material for the director’s cut!

Unconfirmed Rumor: Prometheus Sequel In Development
19 June 2012

Image

The Nexus News is reporting that Prometheus 2 is in the works. The desired date for release is around 2014/2015 but in the worst case scenario, it might take as long as 2017. If everything goes well, filming might even begin later this year. Apparently, director Ridley Scott is in the planning stages right now and is trying to figure out how to achieve certain special effects and how to go about filming the whole thing.

The plan is to have the Prometheus sequel answer many questions asked in the first film and follow the two main storylines that were left dangling. According to rumours, we would see where David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw venture when they flew off at the end of the film and discover what they find, as well as a storyline which concerns the Elder Engineers, that were cut from Prometheus.

While a sequel may answer a few questions that Prometheus posed, even more will be asked in order to set up Prometheus 3, which would round out a trilogy that Damon Lindelof and Ridley Scott have had discussions about. The plan they have in place is to diverge further away from Alien in a Prometheus sequel, but then bring it back into the franchise for the third film.

The journey for this material is definitely not yet over and if both Scott and Lindelof can find the balance between entertainment and ideas that they found in Prometheus, then there is much to be excited about. Of course, Scott has a lot to clear off his slate before he gets to this, The Counselor, a re-team with Michael Fassbender with a script by Cormac McCarthy, being chief among them and then there’s other projects he has in development too.

Yes god, yes please. And have all this cave designs that they scraped. some weird shit right there. All this artwork below seems to be from the Alien Prequel time, when Ridley wanted the 250 million dollar budget. I love the designs on those caves, but imagine how expensive it would have been to put them on the big screen. I hope they get to put these designs in the sequel.
There is also news on the blu-ray http://www.amazon.fr/Prometheus-Blu-ray-Charlize-Theron/dp/B002L6UMF4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_d_1
But it seems this isn't official yet and they didn't decide yet what the final version will look like, if they will have a extended cut of the movie,pr the theatrical cut plus 15-20 minutes of aditional scenes in the menu. If the rumour about the sequel and the elder engineers are confirmed i hope it doesn't mean we won't see the filmed scenes from Prometheus on the blu-ray, just so they could keep things fresh later on.

This is a case of know nothing bloggers and journos spreading false news based on some French Alien/Prometheus boxset. A French boxset that doesn't even necessarily include the extended cut at all. There's gonna be several versions of the Prometheus DVD/Blu-Ray available on several different markets. Ridley has already personally confirmed that there will be an Extended Director's Cut of Prometheus and that there will be additional deleted scenes added in the extras. But of course they're also gonna sell a bare bones version of the Theatrical Cut without any extras.

Alien Territory: The Making of Prometheus
25 July 2012

Image

Trevor Hogg chats with visual effects supervisors Richard Stammers, Charley Henley, Martin Hill, and Paul Butterworth; visual effects producers Michelle Eisenreich, and Unjoo Byars; executive producer Jason Bath, creative director Ahmet Ahmet, 3D cg supervisor Lee Nelson, 3D design lead Dong Ho Lee and Territory Founder/Director David Sheldon-Hicks

“I worked with Ridley [Scott] on Robin Hood [2010] and he was impressed with the work we did at MPC,” recalls Visual Effects Supervisor Richard Stammers who took a leave of absence from the London-based VFX facility. “Ridley asked me to come back to be the overall supervisor on Prometheus [2012] which was a pleasant surprise.” Working with Scott on the medieval tale was a different experience than the science fiction thriller. “We had great plates and it was about augmenting stuff that was already there; the visual effects in Robin Hood were supporting what he had shot as a film and what we added to it was more straightforward.”

A whole new world needed to be brought to life for the second collaboration between the British filmmaker and Stammers. “There was an extensive design process, much of which was heavily unified through the work that Ridley’s Art Department did under Production Designer Arthur Max [Se7en].” The concept art and final cinematic image did not always mirror each other. “There are some things you could look at the concept art and go, ‘Wow! That is like what we ended up shooting.’ But as a general overview you could look at the concept and say, ‘That’s definitely reminiscent of what was shot and the sets that were built.’” The initial designs influenced “the way the set decorating was done, the colour schemes, the cool clinical crispness of the interior of the ship, and the degraded exteriors of the planet’s surface.”

'Prometheus' Sequel Is Officially in the Works, Eyes 2014 or 2015 Release
2 July 2012

Image

20th Century Fox has confirmed the follow-up movie project will bring back Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace to the cast ensemble, but lose screenwriter Damon Lindelof.

Fans of Ridley Scott's ground-breaking mythology "Prometheus" should be happy now because 20th Century Fox has announced that the space thriller film will get a sequel. Via The Hollywood Reporter, the studio confirms that the sequel is projected to be released Stateside sometime in 2014 or 2015.

It is said that director Scott and Fox are actively pushing ahead with the untitled Prometheus sequel and have sealed Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace to return to the cast ensemble. However, the follow-up film must find a new writer since Damon Lindelof will not come back to provide the script.

"Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can't rush it," Emma Watts, Fox president of production, says of the sequel to the $130 million-budgeted sci-fier, which has grossed a solid $303 million globally since it was released on June 8.
