By brostep house (brostep is a term for "shitty dubstep", as opposed to "real" dubstep made by guys like Skream etc.), I more or less meant "house with Skrillex wobbles".

These remixes just sound like someone played a few hiphop beats over the originals (maybe Breathe remix is an exception, at least it is rearranged a bit). Totally unimaginative. Don't get me wrong, I kinda like trap (I don't feel like an expert in the genre though), but I don't dig these ones.

Had the chance to ask Nik from Noisia about the SMBU remix @ this years ADE, pretty crazy...He said it took them more than two months, final version was like the 55th.
They didn't want to just take the original and slap a shitty current day drop on it as all the other remixes did, so instead they went for completely recreating the track from scratch and tried to "update" it to the current standards sound wise. Apparently the recreation of the acid synth line took like two weeks alone.

They should have just used the b52 preset from the Korg Prophecy.

This two months shows deep commitment to this remix, taking into concideration what kind of production knowledge and experience they hold.
respect to them.
opinions about this remix varie in this forum. imo this might be best remix of prodigy track ever done and ever will be. i'm happy this track was Smack my bitch up.

sado1 wrote: Harbinger wrote: six dubstep style remixes on this There are 2 brostep house (I dunno Alvin Risk but my 1st impression is that he seems to do that) remixes, one sort-of-dubstep from Noisia, two trap remixes probably (Bauuer for sure, Major Lazer - I'm not sure before we hear it), one glitch hop remix. I'm sorry I'm moaning about the naming and genres, but I hate generalising. There are 3 "dubstep" tracks/artists on the list.
'dubstep style'
I was generalising, shoot me
I know sod all about these different 'genres'. I was curious about how Mindfields might sound when I listened to some Baauer, wish'd I hadn't tbh.

Yeah or use the original synth...but I think they wanted to create a new sound with the same feel that they could control better. Apparently there was a lot of back and forth and The Prodigy guys were involved for sure. It was good to hear they put a very serious effort into it.

i didn't even know this was called trap or whatever. after hearing Hudson Mowhawke's Sating Panthers Ep long time ago, i thought cool fresh winds in the electronic music scene. i didn't resemble it with all of the other stuff at all, because of it's strong connections to hip-hop, also thought Liam would dig that cause of he's backround.
to see some of you just linking it to as another disaster within electronic music evolution and putting it to the same pot with in all the other shitt whats out there is astonishing to me.
comparing it to hardcore and euro dance? really?
if you think this is eurodance, how can you ever like Poison for example?

damn, i'm feeling like helping to build witch-fire and going in voluntarily.
